i have linked before to this text but wanted to post it here for y'all to see. i read it months ago and some day or another i find myself thinking about themes addressed in it and how glad i am i took the time to read it. it is good info.

(it's a preview of this guy James Kent's book)

i find THIS chapter a must read for some people here on the forums who like to think of themselves (even if they don't accept it) as enlightened mystics who will guide us to heaven on earth on 2012............

Thanks!
A tribal shaman must apprentice for years before treating his own patients, and it only applies more so in the modern world. Get your MD, get a PhD. Educate yourself. Apprentice with elders. Find a real way to help people and stay committed to your pursuit of psychedelics. If, some day, opinions change and this field re-opens, there will be a lot of need for formally trained academics to structure the protocols and boundaries that shamanic work will entail, but whatever it looks like it will not be accessible to hippie wannabes who dropped a lot a shit but never got their act together.
Indeed!!

another must:

Messianic Ideation & Delusions of Grandeur

What if I actually convinced myself I was the messiah, and couldn't talk myself out of it even while I was sober? Where would I be now?

Well, for starters I would have persistent recurring delusions of grandeur, a messiah complex, and would need a steady supply of drugs to keep me in that delusional snap for as long as it took to deliver my prophecy and convince everyone else I was right. This is the trap many psychedelic explorers fall into: They convince themselves they are at the center of a grand cosmic conspiracy...

edit: otherwise known as 'neo complex'

Thanks for the link, I'm putting that on my must have list!

"THIS" is very good . Thanks .
