I wonder if some drugs might be related to "sleeping".
Because besides having Psychedelic experiences with music while on drugs, I've also noticed when I'm about to fall asleep in the train while listening to my Ipod, I'm experiencing some truly deep incredible audio hallucinations.
Sometimes for 30 minutes I'm right in the middle of sleeping and not and my mind is really floating all over the universe, and music takes different shapes than just in an audio kind of way.
Like when I'm dreaming at the same time ( I always dream heavily on music), my dreams seem to merge with the music.

I wonder if you guys have similar experiences with music.
And would you know if some drugs are really related to what happens in the brain when sleeping?

I experience that kind of auditive alucinations a lot, but I think it's just the brain stopping to correctly process the info from the outside...

As for the drugs/sleep relation, I think I've read somewhere that the DMT produced by our brain is directly related to our dreams!

I think the first phase of falling asleep is very trippy. Every time you fall asleep but don't really fall asleep totally (because you're in a train or because the lights and tv are on...) it is really surreal, just like a trip. I've had this recently when I fell asleep on the couch in front of the tv, lights on, fully clothed. When I woke up an hour later it took me like 15 minutes to come back into reality and it was really trippy. It didn't feel like I was sober at all - but I was.

Yeah man! I always smoke a joint before I enter the train because I've got to sit still for like 4hours every weekend..And it helps to boost this experience you're talking about! The train has a real rithim to it and combined with some music with more or less the same beats per minute it really makes the 2hours like a dream. Sometimes I open my eyes and stare a little at the dutch landscape :D

Only problem is my mother gave me a Ipod shuffle and this smallest mp3 player in the whole world doesnt have a REPEAT button
I mean one button for repeat doesnt take any space and it makes live this much easier when you're and audioholic..

Hehe :p I remember one time when i went to bed after a night of mary jane, I couldn't sleep.. So i started making music in my head. I composed the greatest songs and it sounded amazing. But the music took over and got from relaxing to heavy beats and weird sound loops, to the point were i really wanted it to stop (it did). And i still couldnt sleep..

And btw I think drugs do have a lot in common with dreaming. Maybe even the same stuff is being triggered in your head but i'm not sure..

What you’re probably experiencing is what is known as binaural beats or binaural tones. In a nutshell, its frequencies that are synchronized with specific brainwave ranges designed to stimulate the mind. The four main groups targeted are the alpha, beta, delta and theta waves. Beta waves are associated with relaxation, alpha waves are associated with relaxation (Whilst awake), theta waves are associated with dreams and deep meditation and delta waves are associated with deep dreamless sleep.
So when you are listening to music, more than likely the songs contain frequency ranges that stimulate certain brainwaves causing you to fall asleep and affect the dreams you have whilst listening to music when you’re asleep.

Can you have more then one wave at the time?

I almost forgot.
The most freaky psychedelic experience I know is when i'm in the train and I sit still and concentrate REAL deep on the music and the movement of the train it feels like sometimes my soul leaves my body. Yes an out of body experience. I reconize this experience from salvia and other psychedelics.
When I have this feeling my body feels like the train is doing 1000mph and if I don't get scared and open my eyes right away this vibration will pass and I enter a deep meditation.. But because this first 10 seconds are REAL scarry I usualy open my eyes. I don't want to shake like a rattle snake in the train with all those people.

If I want it to stop only thing I have to do is open my eyes. And if I want it to continue without the shaking I have to focus on the spot between my eyes. When I do so I enter a fantasy world.

Hmm, you know, I'm not actually sure. At a guess I'd say it probably can be done, what the effects would be is another question though.

Can you tell me about the music you listen to? Because i'm curious about the frequencies and the way you experience it.

Music that makes you feel good!
Right now it's Au Revoir Simone. 3girls from brooklyn they all play keyboard and it's just so soft and lovely music but if you listen to the lyrics it's all about dreams and real fantasy stuff!

Velvet underground works for me but that's because I LOVE this band and every song they writin.

Faithless...

The kinda music where they have real long solo's like Sweet Smoke.. you may want to check out this awesome psychedelic rock formation from the sixties! Real deep(don't really know how to discribe it when an instrument really gets over the top and still goes on and on and on and on :D ) drumm and guitar solo's. Bit like santana parhaps.. Best album is: Just a Poke.

But again like I said it's the music that really hits you in your heart. For me that's dreamy psychedelic rock most of the time. But because I hang around with other people I'm starting to learn the joy of goa trance :P

For the best effects any band from the noise or drone genres should have some interesting effects since they are based around the use of frequencies and unorthodox ways of creating music through unstructured sound.

I personally don't use any commercial music for experiencing the effects of frequencies, I stick to specialist recordings designed to target set brainwaves and receptors.

you mean like iDoser or something? or just real hight tech bands?

i found that when i do ketamine while listening to music..ketamine sensations will return days later if i listen to the same song that was on during my k hole. wicked shit son.

a couple of months ago (i think), i found the brainwave generator, which you can download freely if you search for it. it is strange at first, but after listening to it for sometime, you begin to "feel" something...i strongly recomend it.
the last time i used it, i had a hard time, because i smoked a real strong hash joint, and went to a completely dark bedroom, with only this program running. it was nice at first, but then it got scary, and after that it became funny. then, i vomited, and stopped the experience.
i have some sinicuichi, and perhaps this weekend i will try some of this inexplored herb with it. i feel the urge to catch one big stone today, haven't done so in a while.

and i almost forgot...many years ago, i was in a train, and i did smoked many joints, and snorted heroine in the WC. i was in a letargic state, only listening to the sound of the train...then, a strange thing happened: i started to listen to bells (more like a glockenspiel), and after that, a children's choir. it was very beautiful, but at the time i was about 18 or 20 and i didn't really payed attention to it. i haven't used the train in quite sometime, but i remember that when i sang in the train, my brain would "make" the drums, the guitar and the bass automaticly. or the dance beat. i would think of a different harmony, and it came. it was fun, but tired my head a lot.
since i made my only interrail through eastern europe, i am fed up with trains!
