Any of you into psychedelic art?

Ever feld like a trip made you express yourself in other ways but talking, like sculpture or painting?

I'm just curious how much psychedelic art actually has to do with psychedelics...

Cool!

So lady salvia made you artistic?

i`ve got sooooo much complicated things which I would like to express in drawing in my head during trips or not even during trips
but I just cant draw paint design or whatever
it never comes out good, so it stays in my head :(

I have EXACTLY the same  ... That's why I wondered about psy art & stuff...

The moment I want to take out of my head what I feel and think it just blocks. I start thinking how to begin the drwaing or whatever and whatever I paint or draw it looks childish and silly. Or too much forced. It's like I can't just let it flow but I have to think before I can let it out, and then it's too late, because it is already ruined.

Ok, this sounds a little strange, but it's the best way I can explain...

almost everybothy has that. you can't expect to be a good artist all of a sudden, just because you have inspiration.
every artist has practised and practised, before they could transform that insiration into a work of art.
but yeah, it's really frustrating to want to create, but just can't

yup u described exactly what I feel
but there are just people that somehow know how to draw
they never practised or anything , they just could
and put the lines on the right places
ah well maybe someday there will be some kind of projector that u can hook up to your brain and it projects your thoughts :)
that would be sooooo great hehe

Prostoner: in some ways this is the case already!

I keep on finding it so very weird that almost everyone who takes a certain psychedelic (Ayahuasca, Salvia, mushrooms) has the same sort of visions: most of the time it is mandala-like, oily/liquid, symmetric patterns that are seen. With lots of details, dots, stripes, flames, snakes, eyes…

And it is not only abstracts that are seen: lady salvia, shroom-squads, the green absinth-fairy, the little mandrake-man…

Why is that?!
Anyone?

the spirits behind these Plants just happened to choose this way of communication
and we receive in this way
because the human mind works alike

I think ;) at this moment

Thats because our western culture and white lies make the stuff that happens in trips impossible.

How about this:

Time and time again, people taking ayahuasca share THE EXACT SAME VISIONS.

Now how's THAT possible :)

Maybe its because when DMT was rediscovered, it was called telepathine?

Where do the visions come from. From your imagination? From our collective uncounsciousness? Or from another lifeform that is so difererent from ourselves that we have great difficulty to accept and recognize it?

also this could be true :)
I find it interesting things to think about

Could be true ;)

You should read up about Mckenna's 'theory' about where the mushrooms came from and what they did for human evolution.

This is soooo fucking interesting that I wonder why this is not picked up by any darwinist.

Same with me... when I was younger I never learned to draw because I had no pictures in my mind. Now the pictures are there but I can't draw, dammit! However I think you can still learn drawing techniques (maybe I'll do so some time...)

Another way to express yourself without drawing is photography or video. For example do you know how cool it looks when smoke from a cigarette is floating in the spotlight of a halogen lamp? There are extremely cool pictures you can capture with a camera, especially in little details you usually overlook. I haven't yet made a trip-inspired video, but I'm definitely going to as soon as I have more time.

i'm bust with a vid of some fucked up clouds...if it's done I'll post it here.
It will be the background for me new portfoli owebsite which will be up in a month or so... got lots of work to do, so you goota be patient, sorry :)

Soon i'll post some of my work...not really that psychedelic, but strong inspired by things I've seen/heard/thought under or after being under te influence of psychedelics. Mostly paintings/stencilworks

I felt the same way. I can't draw what I have seen, but I can draw (in a lofi style) things that are "alive" when on psychedelics
I don't have the skills to draw, but after my first 2 acid experiences I suddenly started to draw these things. I'll try to scan some things I've done
I use a really really thin fineliner so I have more room to do little ink experiments

Saturday last week I was at a party and I had done some 700 or maybe 800 mics and this friend (who is a bit thin and long) looked like a more abstract creature, no eyes just blackness and his face and body were more straight and it was like he was drawn/sketched in front of my eyes and it was one of the coolest things I ever saw. I wish I could draw it, it's like a concept sketch of a car with really neat colors. Only I saw him move and it was a bit like an old walt disney film where you could see some movement of the pencil lines around the edges, but then with the neat car sketch colors.
And he could move through the crowd so fast...
But I'm wondering offtopic

i'd love to see your drawings sometime :)

Makes me happy to read that many of u have the same. Maybe I'll start out with something simple to draw, just lines or something. It's just, sometimes you so desperately want to grasp what's in your head it's almost like you push it away because you want it so bad. I used to play volleybal and when i really wanted to hit the ball, i'd miss, and it would hit my face or something... This is the same feeling.

Video is a really cool idea. Maybe Salvia this weekend and a little arty experience afterwards.... Maybe I'll just have to learn not to want it so badly and just let it flow (hey, that might be a life lessons just here..)

Love to see ur art stuff btw!!!! :D

Bit of an aside, but there are some techniques to actually learn how to draw before thinking (cause this thinking gets in the way of drawing, people who think don't draw lines, they draw ideas). One of these techniques is drawing with your left hand or behind your back or upside-down. This doesn't mean you have to do it like this forever, but it stimulates different parts of the brain (mostly on the right/artistic side), so that you cannot think before drawing. Once you have gotten used to using the right parts of your brain, you can begin to draw like an artist...
BTW this technique is the Betty Edwards technique. More info on drawright.com
