I found some photos from the fall 2007 season here in Seattle.

These pics are from the first patch we found last year.

Some cyan babies:

The photos were taken by a friend who was a photography student at the time.

Thats a lot of shrooms!
I should really start looking this season! :D

i really need to visit the west coast

Why do you cut the stems? And thats awesome. All those mushrooms you have is my goal this year. Cannot wait to go picking.

PEACE & LOVE

I don't cut the stems as well.
I just take the mushroom with a glove between my fingers and turn it till it comes loose.

Very good looking mushrooms man :)
Nice harvest, hope you enjoy your trip :D

if you cut the stems you avoid damaging the delecate hyphae. the fruiting body is formed where hyphae of two organisims meet/cross. cutting the mushroom allows another fruiting budy to develop from the same hyphae

ie. if you cut it you will get more mushrooms growing in the same spot

Thx for the tip man, didn't know that :)

with some species you will get another fruiting body in the same spot within a few days. it makes sense if you have a limited number of picking sites and return frequently to them

Thanks for the advice! I am going searching today. We went yesterday, but found nothing. I have heard that the Galerina grows along side with P. Cyanescens; is this true? Are they hard to tell the difference between. I have looked at many many pictures of both, and have observed that P. Cyanescens do not have any type of 'veil' that breaks off from the cap where as Galerina does. Also Galerina doesn't have a white and hollow stem where as P. Cyanescens does. Can Galerina be found to have a white stem? Galerina does not bruise blue, am I correct? I am going to closely inspect every mushrooms I pick when I find a patch. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

PEACE & LOVE
