problem using carbon filter

Hey i think i have the idea wrong, Do i want the fan to suck air out from my tent and though a carbon filter,
or do i want my fan to suck the air out through the carbon filter.

so. is it.... fan - filter - outside..
or.... filter - fan - outside ? im confused i think. i thought top one was right?

And i keep reading about Negative pressure inside of your tent?

IF YOUR TENT IS COMPLETELY CLOSED OFF PRESSURE CLOSED, HOW DO YOU GET FRESH AIR INSIDE??

the fan sucks the air though the filter and blows it outside, wich creats negitive air pressure in the tent, and air will be drawn in through any opening in the tent.

the first is wrong, second is right. i had alot of troble grasping this till i actually saw the equipment and realized how it worked.

ive actually just seen a setup yesterday that works the exact opposite, air is sucked in and filtered(not carbon, just a regular airfilter for bugs and other pests) from outside, and another extractor fan sucks the air from the room and blows it THROUGH the carbon filter outside of the grow room. so theres no carbon filter around the actual plants, its on the outside where the air comes out. :ANAL:

so on that note i dont think its TOO important how its setup, as long as all the air is passing through the filter. but idk i think that having the filter on the air-in duct near the plants is the best idea, but thats just me.

you want the air leaving the room to pass through the carbon filter. the carbon filter is to remove the smell from the room
