I just bought some seeds a couple of months ago but they are still to small. I can get live cactii 3 inches up. Whats the best dosage for a first timer and from what sized cactii should I use. Plus, what affects can I expect.

HelloOoO!Well, about experiences and dosages and all acurate info you can get go to Erowid.org,you'll find everything you need to know there. But anyway growing peyote is a matter of patience and care. You will have to wait years if you want a decent trip from it,the cacti will be more powerfull as more mescaline you let him produce,so once again...waiting and patience, the more mature cactis will be the more mescaline you'll get from them,if you go on eating small cactis you will just experience "pain in the ass" stomach revolution and you have to eat A LOT of them, but you won't fell absolutely no effects. So i recommend patience and a very long growing period (years),with a lot of care included. There are different ways to xtract mescaline from it,but you will find it all at Erowwid.org.About the effects, you will find trip experiences there too,but i remember a statement from "Duke"(fear&loathing) that describes it very well..."Mescaline comes on slowly, the first hour it's all waiting, the next hour you start to curse the fucker who sold it to you cause nothing's happening, when all the sudden...BANG!"
Hope this helps.

I cant believe all the *****'s asking about how long it will take thier freshly planted seedlings to grow before you eat them, I guess you should have looked into it further before you bought seeds or seedlings, it can take 13 years, especially if you have no gardening experience!
Ppl like this shouldnt even have this sacred plant! Have some respect.
Mabye all you guys out there thinking about how to get off - mabye you should meditate with your plants and just mabye Grandfather Peyote will teach you something, even if you do get a hold of some buttons, dont think your gonna get wasted and have a great time!
Your prolly gonna puke alot and have an extremely introspective psychedelic journey, in which you contemplate how to better yourself as a person.
When I think about it like that - mabye its just the best thing for them.

well, if growing mushrooms is a matter of higien, cleen hands and steril conditions,
growing cacti is a matter of time, waiting and patience.Especialy if growing Lophophora.

growing any cactus from seeds is realy not easy.
Peyote is the one that grows most slowly, and taking care over it is more difficult than any other cactus, exept the Ariokarpus maybe.

The cacti, grown from seeds contains less chemicals than the cacti grown from clones, and buttons from old specimens contains much more than same size young ones.

I have oly 3 years expirience of growing cacti, and I still do not feel expirienced enough to try growing Lophophora, so my advise can be wrong,
but try to grow someTrichocereus, Opuntia,Echinopsis,Myrtilocactus or Gymnocalycium before trying to take care over caprisious and precious Peyotes(Lophophora)
to gain some background growing-cacti expirience.

If you already know how to grow cacti, then start, and after 5-15 years you will have mature specimens, which give good butons anualy.

Growing Trichocereus peruvianus( Peruvian torch) and Trichocereus pachanoi
(San Pedro) is much faster and more easy, and thay contains usualy just a little less(and sometimes even a little more) mescaline and other psichoactive chemicals than the Lophophora does.

I just recieved my beloved babies!! So now I'm going to put them in the sun. They've been cooped up in a dark, evil card board box for a week!!

Be sure to let them adjust to the sun and be sure they do not get to much sun the first weeks. as they can get sunburn.

Ok!! Thanks for the good advice. Now just one question. I did give my babies some tap water. Just about 0.5 dl per cacti. I do want them to feel comfortable and happy in my environment! Hope I didn't do anything wrong. I read in erowid that they should have moist soil during summer or something like that.

Ir yu crazy!Peyote need to be watered with spraycan-filled with normal not mineral water. And when you spray it spray like yu put 2 large spones of water.0.5dcl is given to 20year old!.Remember that. You can at hot times give half dec. but in younglings humidity stimulates fungi to grow which can root your cacti who is year or year and half old and have not jet developed immunity to outher factors.Ask me anything.I have doctorated growing cacti-from mistakes and lots other shits,HRKY 8)

Very good to know Goran!! Thx man. well I don't know if it even was 0.5 dl. I just gave them a little water since I know that cacti don't need much water. I will purchase a spray can though. My babies are about 1-2 cm small (bought from azarius) so I really don't know the age of them. They're about a grown mans thumb nail big (1.5 cm x 1.5 cm in diameter).

I have to admit that I first bought them to eat them but after getting more and more info about my babies I soon realised they're too small haha I'm goin to be old and grey before I can enjoy them lol!!

Good thing I bought 40(!) seeds of Trichocereus Peruvianus!
I'm going to try to make 20 TP grow for a year or two! ;)

If they are pale or white green cirtenly is that thay have not even 2years old.Peyote is fast grower first but when root is established and green head or two is 1cm wide it fall in stasis field like some Einstains 8) cocun time machine with theory of relativitate at work.

LOL ok!! Yes they are whiteish green. So they're - as u stated - not over 2 years old. All in all it doesn't matter if I can eat them today, next week or in 10 years. It's exciting to follow the peyotes growth! :D
