This is off topic and even out of character but a gringo surfer friend of mine cruised thru Lima on his way back to the states today and he came back with the remnants of a $50-10G rock of coke, it weighed 5G here!, he it bought up on the coast of northern Perú last week. He broke it out and asked if I wanted to sample it.
I have been in Perú for 3 months and cocaine is not on my "favorite's" list, but like he said, to actually be in Perú and not sample the legend at it's source... so he cut us out a couple of nice lines and we rolled a bill for a straw.
I was truly surprised, there was no taste of ether, or anything else for that matter. The lift off was nearly instantaneous. I dislike coke for numerous reasons including the length of the ride and the lack of intensity it has for me, but these few modest lines showed me there is indeed something to it here, still not my cup o' tea but heh.
The rush was nearly dizzying, I wet my finger and wiped the glass surface for the tiny bit of leavings and touched it to my tongue. We were walking thru an open air market nearby 30 minutes later and I noticed the roof of my mouth getting numb, after 2 hours my nose was as numb as if I had a shot of novocaine from a dentist! The effects lingered for several hours afterwards. This was from an insignificant amount of powder that I almost wiped into the trash!
I was thoroughly impressed by the quality and totally floored by the price, but cocaine has a black cloud of bad karma following it that I want no part of, nice place to visit....
This is just a random post about a random happening here en Perú and I thought I'd share.
Namaste ;^)
