Hello ,
i just want if someone have an idea of what happened if in the case of isosafrole , a peracid oxydation ( whith H202 and FORMIC ACID ) of safrole with acetone could give ?

The solution was initially white , and 36 h after the start of magnetic stirring , the solution was orange and a lot of matter like oil was formed and sit in the melt of the bottle

What products are fromed ?
Thanks

useless products.

The point of isomerizing safrole is that you relocate the double bond from the end of the alkyl chain ( the terminal position) to the middle carbon, aka
C2, so that when you apply the peractd oxidation you create a ketone on C2.

By not using isosafrole, you place the ketone function on the end of the chain, aka C3.

This product will aminate and will give you a completely inactive substance.

Isomerize w/ calcium oxide:

100 g safrole
1 g KOH
15 g CaO

heat 15 min at bp of safrole, monitoring w/ thermometer. BP will rise to isosafroles bp slowly.

Filter and distill for isosafrole @ 80% +
