Is it possible to grow mushrooms in the same setup that would be used inside, only outdoors?

depends on the species you want to cultivate.

P azurescens & P cyanescens can be easily cultivated in somewhat colder climates. For P. cubensis the temperature would be too low

It's possible to grow Azurescens outside on woodchips.

i'm speaking more of making the terrarium, etc, only placing it outside for... parental reasons, so to speak.

anyhow, my main concern is cold nights. any insight?

bump..

for personal interest

I'd say grow a strain outside that can be grown in your climate easilly
Building an outside colonisation and fruiting chamber would be so much work.
It's much more easy to just grow an outside strain.

good suggestion, Space-is-the-Place :D

that being said, what are some outdoor strains?

I don't want to sound like a bitch,
but all mushrooms are "outdoor strains"....  sorry,
The best for outdoor in a "cold" climate would be the ones Shamanita pointed out at the start of this topic. I think, not sure cause I grow indoors but when I get my own garden, I'm gonna try growing outdoor to.

haha very true, i guess what i meant to ask was which would be better outdoor in colder climates.

anyhow, if i were to order cyanescens or azurescens spores from online, where do I go from there? anyone have experience growing outdoor?

I read that you can even try to bury old, used, indoor cakes of cubensis to make outdoor colonies. Just bury the old cakes somewhere in the woods and they might start growing. I'm not sure though if cubensis would survive European winters.

Suss the conditions that you have in your area and pick a mushroom that normaly grows in those conditions and go for it .
