im a new , i generarly know about this.....but i'd be nice if some of you decribed what a psychonaut means to you. :)

Hi Rebecca, welcome to our little world of wonder!! :)

I guess we're refering to " psycho" as in mind (not as in mad or psychopath), and " naut" as in traveler (like the astronaut is the traveler of space).

So we mean something like " mind traveller".

So someone who travells the mind, discovers the things our amazing brain has to offer, either with the help of psico active substancies (like mushrooms, acid, whatever) or not. Like me, for example, i don't use any drugs and i still love to discover about dreams, parallell dimensions, time gaps, stuff like that.

Well, dear Rebecca,

Is it a bit clear now?

yeaah nice said alice, we are the explorers of the mind 8)

I've always have a little difficulty with the name psychonaut since it implies you travel in your mind and its very clear to me that I've been other galaxies as well.

;)

:D

possible explination:
the ''sober people'' created the name ''psychonaut''. and if in that name they would admit that there are other worlds.......well, they wouldn't....

so they only say it is a mindtraveller, for they don't believe in spirit or other worlds.

thank you for your answers. :)

i've studied and practiced wicca since i was 14..so i am experianced with meditation, affirmation etc and i'm starting to do some astral projection....i'm always trying to analyze the thoughts and feelings behind this, so i know more about whats going on inside me and then i try to fix it in the "real world".....am i off to the right start?

oh and about drugs, yes over this past year i've been a naughty girl...i've done extacy, shroomes, acid, DXM and salvia....i think shroomes are wonderful personaly.....but when your in your trip how exactly to you use your trip to anaylze yourself and all that?

scientists analyze and observe.

in meditation you observe aswell, but different.

a trip is not about analyzing, it is about feeling, being, understanding.

after tthat you digest it and go think about what you experianced.

(this is only my way of seeing it)

Personally I use trips to explore the complex way my psyche is built. I am able to gain better understanding about how past experiences have molded my personality and to see relations that are unclear or not easily noticed in my normal state of mind. During the trip I am also able to do some work with my psyche, address certain problems etc. Sometimes it can indeed be virtually impossible to analyze things logically during the trip, but the insights that have been gained can be studied afterwards.

I am able to gain better understanding about how past experiences have molded my personality and to see relations that are unclear or not easily noticed in my normal state of mind.

I am often able to see not only myself but also other people from a different (person's) point of view. That can be pretty shocking at first, but it helps a lot dealing with people.
But this is only the first stage of a trip - the second, when it gets even stronger, is the one where you can experience things which are out of the usual human view, the spiritual and magical planes.

but when your in your trip how exactly to you use your trip to anaylze yourself and all that?

Rebecca, you seem to be well prepared with all your meditation practice, you should be able to deal well with higher doses of shrooms. Try 5 grams or more and you won't even have to ask that question anymore. On the higher doses things just open up to you, no need to ask yourself how to analyze them anymore (at least that's my personal experience)

But 5 grams (dried) is a normal dose.... Rolling Eyes
Totally true ;) but not everybody seems to know (most people I hear take 1-3 grams and never more).
I don't know exactly how much I'm usually taking (I don't have a scale, shame on me...) but from what I eyeball it's about 6g for normal, good trip (I'm using the commercial packages for comparison).
More than 6g is possible, less is usually boring :)

It's a personal journey through the depths of the mind that allows one to learn more about themselves as well as challenging ingrained concepts of reality. Afterall we only have personal experience to really go off of, unless you prefer blind faith. There are various methods for exploring mind and reality, meditation, lucid dreaming, and psychedelics. With each method you explore another facet of reality and the human experience. I would even go as so far to say the journey never ends, the human experience is a trip in it's self, one that has so much to teach where the mind has unlimited potential to become. So everyone is a psychonaut whether they know it or not. The great game the hindus' say we all participate in. Funny that this is the path I have made for myself. I'm comfortable in my ever growing ability to understand the chaos that is life. Thanks for the structure and security that was provided to me by society, and the authorities but i'll pass.

I think true freedom is being able to walk the personal path of exploration without persecution. I'm not doing this for anyone but myself, and they can do it for themselves if they wish I care not.
Hey Theelords link has a good definition. Strangly I can relate to other articles.

ELLO' REBECCA!

The term "psychonaut" means to me- exploring healthy altered mental states with childlike curiousity and ambition- and gaining insight.

Life is precious; it's all we truly have!

Great comments folks! :goodman:
