Network cable unplugged

I havent been so frustrated my whole life.
...well i play computer games to kill time.
I just got a new one, i actually made it to the store the last second.
I was so happy, I went home installed it.....and then, it said it needed internet for activation....that really pissed me off.
(since i cant afford the internet at home lol.)
So, i got to my grandmothers place....which had no ethernet cable.
I went back home, almost crashed my car and got the god damned cable.
Now i am sitting here, wondering WHY THE FUCK IT DOESNT SHOW UP.
I've tried googling around but, google doesnt seem to be liking me.

my network connection folder says:
Local Area connection - bla bla bla gay gay lame shit bla bla - Network cable is unplugged.

I've tried all the ports, i've switched off the god damned firewall, i've tried everything physical i can.
So how can i test the problem?

Its either my other computer which i had to fucking drag here through a storm.
its then either the modem shit, or the cable.

Anyone experienced something similar?
this problem is...annoying.
And i am frustrated and to stubborn to sign up on a windows XP geek forum.

When i disable the local area connection, and then turn it back on.
It says ENABLED, and then it says:
Arquiring network adress....for like 3-7 seconds.....Then it goes back to
NETWORK CABLE TO GOD DAMNED LAME TO WORK!

I had a good laugh at that . Computers can be realy fucking frustrateing .

That means the network cable works so the problem is either that the router / modem isnt responding or the computer wont make the conection to the router / modem . When i had that problem i went to the services page and looked at DHCP and turned it on and on automatic . Have you looked in the event log ? maybe that says something .

If nothing works how are you googleing ? And why cant you activate / register your game ? Is the game limited to one computer or something ?

I have got this game. Neverwinter nights 2.
I wanted to play it on my laptop.
But what the fuck. Something is wrong with the 3d3.
It does instal but it doesn't play.

I can play it on my pc. But i want to play it on my laptop.
this also sucks. i have to figure this out.

maybe the cable is broken??
maybe the network card is broken?
maybe you need another cable (there's patch cable and crossover), but i think with win xp it can configure itself automatically so that it doesn't matter what cable you take ...
only guessing... maybe you need a windows service pack update... but just guessing.... it could be that you need to reinstall windows, but maybe not, but right now i wouldn't know another possible solution...
when i can think of one, i'll tell you!
what could indeed be happening is that your cable is at some point broken or sort of stuck or something so you needed to watch every part of the cable and maybe revolve or curl it so the loose contact will work, or else you'd just need to get a new one. good luck!

Setting up network connections can be a ROYAL pain in the ass. The easiest fix is making sure your eth card is plugged in tight.
Can you access the internet at all with that computer?
