I still a big fan of japanese animation and although im not to sure as too how many of you are. i still would like to mention that there was once a series brought out neon genesis evangelion not sure if any of you have see it. the reason I bring it up is I never found it to be the greatest anime on earth it was childish at times the storyline was dragged out but as a fan I persisted though never the less.

the reason it became an obsession for me is at the time I failed to understand the series. there were parts left unanswered and what seemed to make it worse when I
researched the show each individual that made a comment on the net had a unique perspective to the answer I was seeking.

yet I agreed with non of them and must have watched the show maby times over. it wasn't until I stumbled across a small article and yet too this day I have never had the information confirmed but the guy who wrote the script turned out to be suffering from bipola or some form of mental health problem. this indeed was sufficient and explained the show it also was mentioned that he didn't want to end the series yet but a friend stepped in and finished the ending for him.

that would explain the twisted ending. it also stated that he commited suicide not long after the movie.

yet it was what got me into anime.

I love my anime too :D
i've never been a big fan of evangelion though but i remember it was quite well animated
that does indeed give reason to why it ended so...wrong
gungrave, gantz and ghost in the shell are my favourite ones
and akira of course

mhm I started to watch NGE but...it couldn't keep my interest. But yeah, I remember it was quite twisted. Mhm I also started Ghost in a shell once but didn't end that either. But I remember it was good though.

My absolute favourites are Hellsing and Death Note. They are mind-blowing. Especially their stories...

Aaah funny I am watching gantz right now :D

Evangelion was the first anime I got into back in the day, was never really big into it but it was fun and so different from anything else at the time.. since then it seems that 90% of mainstream anime has become all the same, high school kids with superpowers or magic having adventures, teen angst and "fan service" shots and so my tolerance is pretty low compared to what it used to be.. but there is still some really great anime out there

Anime I've seen lately that I like: Paprika (now there's a psychedelic anime!), the second Ghost in the Shell movie, (very much a movie about altered states of consciousness, quite different from the first movie). Tekkonkinkreet as well.. aside from that I like Akira, and pretty much anything Miyazaki..

Code Geass: Lelouch of the rebellion :D
so many twists it will make your stomach explode

i definately love anime:)

its a spun out anime man, soo strange
the second Ghost in the Shell movie, (very much a movie about altered states of consciousness, quite different from the first movie).
and a very interesting anime indeed, worthy of watching a couple times over because each time i watch it i see something new

berserk was a classic series for me
paranoia agent was pretty awesome, excellent for psychonauts i think
samurai champloo was pretty cool as well
ergo proxy very in depth conciousness and self identity themes, super interesting

I think that's also the reason I posted about anime just too find some more good movies.

yet nobody has mentioned tecknoman, its my favourite series yet. I went to great length to download each episode in english from the net, I then converted them with divx and now can watch episodes on my touch phone.

star is the best I still chase girls with the same qualities as her.

plus don't forget the powerful sumari x, the greatest assain that ever lived. I nearly died when I found out I needed betrayal to find out what happens.

I think gantz will be my next victim.

I wouldn't call myself a big fan of japanese anime. But I do enjoy watching them.
I never saw the series Viljo mentioned, it sounds interesting.
I enjoyed the serial experiments lain series.
I was surprised when the series turned to the ideas of John C Lilly

finished gantz, started cowboy bebop, really cool, I like that one.

cowboy bebob's great.. i should dust it off and watch it sometime soon..

and as a plus.. about halfway thru the series there's an entire episode very related to psychonauting :D I'm tempted to spoil it but i won't say anymore than that for now :P

the guy that made cowboy bebop went on to make another awesome series called Samurai champloo which blended hip hop elements and the edo period from japan.
i was really into hip hop when i was young so this anime made me cream my pants

i still love it to this day

I remember when I was 6 or 7 and watching the SciFi channel, at about 6 or 7 in the morning. They used to have the most intense anime I had ever witnessed. Nowdays anime is too childish for me.

They used to have 15-30 minute long shows that were completely self contained. No story line outside the one show, and here is an example:

The year is 2015, a computer chip has been made to energize itself. It finds its way to the dump. The man is living ina slummy neighborhood next to the dump, and hears a large noise from his motorcycle. He looks to the sky and there is this many-thousand foot stack of junk cars, and metal parts staring at him, arranged in a human form. He takes off, and as you watch the machine rip up buildings and devestate everything, you realize the author has just conceived the end of the human planet's existance.

Pretty fucking epic for a 15-30 minute show. They were all that extreme, and the detail in each was awesome.
