Hi everyone!

Yesterday I had a talk with my mother and started introducing her to this aspect of my life which she didn't know about. As I thought, she wasn't very receptive to the fact that some drugs have beneficial effects. But still, I think if I provide her with enough information I might convince her. So I'm asking for you help.

There is two things you can do to help:

If you know of any good article or study that demonstrates the beneficial effects of psychedelics or prove that they are safe, or show how they are different from drugs like meth, cocaïne or opiates, and can give me a link to it, I would REALLY appreciate.

Second thing: Please tell here any argument that comes to your mind saying why psychedelics aren't bad/are useful/are safe/do more than just making you feel good.

Be aware of the fact that it's all for my mother, which is brainwashed into thinking drugs = evil. Also, I'm talking her only about mushrooms, since it's the only psychedelic that is available for me that I find interesting (Ketamine and DXM are not psychedelics, at least not for me, and I haven't found LSD yet)

I have gathered most useful information from wikipedia and erowid, so don't lose time with them (unless there is something you think is of very high importance)

I am thanking you in advance for you precious help in opening my mother's eyes.

Maybe I'm just dreaming, but my ultimate goal is to convince her to try a low dose of shrooms with me :P

iv found that nomatter how much convincing i try to do with my parents, they have grown up with the mindset of "drugs being bad" sooo pretty much your screwed.. but if you want your mom to try a small dose of mushrooms, i think you should blend up 2-3 grams in a buster, and put it in cream of mushroom soup. and share with your mom! :P
help her though it, and tell her its completly safe blah blah blah. maybe that just might work with changing her mind on drugs, or just make her even more strict about the whole drug situation..

but yeah, iv given up on trying to defend myself and my thoughts on drugs to my rents.

Make a search. erowid, reality sandwich, here, edot forum, google it...

Anyway, the best thing to do is saying her to trust you and have a session with her. Both loaded. Be kind with her and give much love to her. And try to see both sides, thats very important. Don't try to impose your views, just show them. Her perception will eventually understand it or not.

Anyway, good luck with that.

I have already gathered 23 pages of informations about Psychonautism, psychedelics in general and mushrooms. I am just asking you if there are some points you think I HAVE to mention, as I'm sure there are a lot of things I didn't think about.

I've been thinking the same thing, till yesterday; I perceived an opening.

You mean without her knowing? I don't want her to be mad at me and badtrip.

Here's the document I prepared her. What do you think?

Things I added (mostly to help her comprehension)

Important parts

I didnt read it, but show that to her. Aslong as it shows facts and valuable information about the use and traditions about psychedelics I think it's worth showing that to her.

I read most of it (just didn't have the time to slag through the french, too hard for me :( ) but it certainly looks like you have thought this through and arrived at an educated and informed choice on your own.

I don't have any idea how your mom will react though.. but if she were my mom, I know she would love me very much, and would be feeling very confused and worried right now.

I certainly have no intention of telling my folks, who are Christians, told that psychedelics open up your mind to Satan. There would just be no point in trying to convince them.

The thing to remember is that you can't force people to change their minds, they have to make the choice themselves. Your mom will have to make the choice to actually read the paper.. and if someone has already made up their mind on the subject, all the facts and information in the world won't convince them. Humans are not rational creatures. Anti-drug people are ideologically opposed to drugs, meaning that the effects of the mushrooms may not be important or interesting to them, or they will only read the negative effects as outweighing the positives. It is a drug, and therefore it is artificial and bad.

I was not a drug user and was anti-drug for a large portion of my life. It took several years of exposure to drug users (as well as other changes that were happening in my life at the time) to realize how gravely mistaken I had been on the subject. My first psychedelic experience was on a heroic dose of cannabis, and I still remember the beauty, the intensity intertwined with the occasional flicker of anger at realizing how i had been lied to, how people were being denied these rich and valuable experiences by a society spreading ignorance and fear.

Anyway no drug user could have convinced me I was wrong at one point. It was by seeing the actions of others (and fortunately I was around psychedelic users, not crack or heroin addicts) and realizing that at some point a large portion of the people i respected (whether i knew them or not, including artists, scientists, etc etc) had done psychedelics for a reason. Not "to get the next fix", as the propaganda says. This led me to research psychedelics, which in turn led me to try them.

Well that was my path. Don't know if this helps at all. Good luck. Try not to get frustrated if things go wrong.

Good idea avoiding LSD.. most clueless people associate it on the same level as crack cocaine, and really don't have even an idea that it was a clinical medicine for about two decades before it was banned by equally clueless reactionary (NON-MEDICAL) dumbfucks. Err, politicians. Seeing that research resume after 40 wasted years.. finally..! :D

Thanks everyone for your answers! My documents of 28 pages is now printing :)

I thought it would be a good idea to add a few trip reports describing experiences similar to mines which will maybe permit them to better understand my motivations.

Do you allow me to put this in my "experiences" section? :)

Hey!!

I would reccommend you to give her the feeling that it is important to you, that she will learn something from you.

Also you should give her the "comfortable" feeling you have with psychadelics. I don't know how you could do this, but an idea would be to tell her of your psychadelics experiences and how you dealt with them and to what conclusions you came. Like the drug isn't the thing to be afraid of.....

But if you really want to take shrooms with her you should prepare her a bit mentally for a possible trip she would have.

Simply because tripping can REALLY BE intense if one has never ever before REALLY tripped of somethin like shrooms.

I'd reccommend also shrooms, because they have a more mystic touch to it, though i can't speak from experience, because i haven't tried LSD already.

But with shrooms my personal feeling is that you can really enjoy and "dive" into the trip and therefore yourself, if you're feelings and mood are alright.

To that definately a comfortable surroundings AND mood are necessary.

So maybe try to talk to her and in her own interest tell her, that she should when the time has come only take the mushrooms when she is sure of it and feels fine.

Also when the day has come :P treat your mother as a friend and let her feel that. This is very important for tripping together.

peace.

P.S. you asked on good information. i think GOD posted in one thread a real good collection of valuable information on psychadelics.

But if you really want to take shrooms with her you should prepare her a bit mentally for a possible trip she would have.

Of course ;) She has never taken any drug other than alcohol, caffeine and those stupid anti-depressants... If she accepts I am going to explain her everything she need to know.

Thanks for you reply. I will look for this post you talk about.

Be wary if she is on anti-depressants. They may not combine well with tryptamine-based psychedelics.. And yeah I've had to use those ghastly things too (about 10 years ago now.. oof) but I was never diagnosed with clinical depression, just given a list of 8 shitty questions and then BAM! hey you aren't happy, here's a prescription for venlafaxine!

Good luck convincing your mom!

A couple of weeks ago I got caught red handed smoking weed for the very first time by my mom. She stayed calm and we had a little talk. I told her that I smoke every day and she was fine with it. After I said I have a cannabis plant in my home in Gent she allowed me to bring it home so she can look after it when I can't. Today she asked if one plant is enough for one person for one year, and she proposed to grow more plants next year :)

This was very surprising, as I still have an underage brother and sister.

Once, she also found an empty box of mushrooms from azarius, and all she said was "Be careful, and don't mix with alcohol."

So: just go for it, it is REALLY worth the try to let your parents know what you're doing... Although I can imagine there are exceptions :?

AND FORGOT HOME USE OR LARGER USE WITH HIGHER TOLERANCE FROM MOTHER SIDE! My mom loves fungi, see them growing, cacti and such but at the end she advices me that I do not take that!.
Also if U will teach your mother bout drugs, forgot parties without hers knowledge! She will flash U every time when U will use something and very likely guess what U have used! Believe me!

ALSO U CAN SEND ME LIST WITH QUESTIONS, JUST AS YOUR MUM.

Its interesting, I was thinking along the same lines. I personally swear by psychedelics, but I chose to use them on my own. My friends never tried to convince me, they were only there to answer my questions, that's it. Right up until i put a tab in my mouth for the first time, my friend was asking "Are you really sure?" And it was a rewarding, but difficult night. I bet the older you are when you first try them, the stronger the effect as well...

People need to make their own informed choices and decisions. Only then maybe they will be ready to deal with the unpredictability of a first experience, and take responsibility for the choice they made.

If I ever felt I was responsible for having pushed somebody into having a really bad trip, I could never live with myself again.

Even if someone whom I know had never tried them before outright asked me, I would still want them to be fully informed first.

QUOTING:

I was scared! Death scared when I used E first time. Bunch of thoughts flow over my head. Would my mom be happy if she knows what I am doing, can I gone mad, maybe it's to early, wait a little, who has profited in life from drugs?, similar stuff.

Alica was something else cause my first 3-4 times was very low dose kind of trips. 1/4 of low grade Acid. But I felt older then I actual were in that time. Especially on E! I were 14-15 but mind and soul 18-19. Now it's sad cause I am nostalgic for younger times with spirits of olderer younger times.

Effects were stronger in one way, I was unexperienced! But after 10-20 Alica's voyage become like todays one. OK, I am older now, wiser, more info and XP my soul has felt and voyage is different, other way triping.
Before for fun, midway for perception, now for mind, "why we are here and who we are", religion and also some fun.LOL

One thing more: E, which is my favorite, sorry it has been my favorite, nowadays it becomes shit!!! Before, when I was 15, E cost 10-12€. Also minimal dose of MDMA and MDA (MDA was common those days) has been over 150mg!!! How can I know bout MDA? Strong hallucinations occur! Strong, sky high! With focused mind! No LSD kind distractions.

NOW, one E cost near 1-2€, full of DC's, ketamine, DXM, amphetamine, caffeine, ephedrine, meth maybe?, 30-to max50mg of MDMA or Piperazine.

Yeah I thought about it, but I think she has stopped taking them now... and it is venlafaxine she is taking, so as you have taken it maybe you know about taking shrooms while taking it?

WHY THE HELL U WANT TO PUSH YOUR MOTHER IN THE WORLD OF DRUGS???

I dont want to PUSH her, the main reason why I'm giving her all this information is so she stops thinking I take drugs just to get high, that I'm destroying my health, that I'm gonna end schizo and all those things that propaganda carved in her brain. It is also so she stops worrying, because I told her that I was not going to stop taking mushrooms (I am quitting weed because I have a problem with this substance, but in her opinion all drugs are the same and I should stop mushrooms too, even though I told her that I take them roughly once every 2 months).

Once she is done reading this document I made for her, I am simply going to tell her "You know, I'd be very happy if you accepted to take a low dose of mushrooms with me.". I am not gonna insist more: I don't want her to feel forced to do it. I don't want her to do it but feel bad about it at the same time. That would probably en up being a very negative experience for both of us.

She needs to ask U for some, she own willingly!

Maybe you are right... I'm gonna wait a little bit before proposing her. Who knows, maybe she is gonna ask herself :P

ALSO U CAN SEND ME LIST WITH QUESTIONS, JUST AS YOUR MUM.

Thank you, if I have questions I'll ask you :)

E, which is my favorite, sorry it has been my favorite, nowadays it becomes shit!!!

Yeah it's sad, really :(

No, I can't tell you how they combine. I took venlafaxine way before I took psychedelics, I really only entered the world of (not-big-pharma) drugs about 3 years ago. And venlafaxine was 10 years ago.

My experience on venlafaxine was horrible. I won't diss the drug per se, perhaps if someone actually physically needs it, maybe it might help them. But I don't think I suffered from legitimate chemical physiological depression. It was purely a bad life scenario that caused my depression.

Venlafaxine fucked me up big time. I was sleeping 14 hours a day, no drive to do anything at all, parents scared and upset (was still living at home at the time). It clouded up my thoughts, muddied up my memory, dirtied me. It took many years to heal.

A happy life since then has helped me heal from that period. Psychedelics have played a huge part in this process as well.. Marijuana experiences have taught me how to remember again, putting me in touch with distant memories. The classic psychedelics taught me how to relax profoundly, gave me insights about where many things that affect me psychologically have come from by opening up my memory as well. Also they have given me glimpses of pure bliss, beauty, joy, the process of death and life, all these things that make one so happy to be alive even when maybe in a bad mood that day.

give her venlafaxine and see how it EFEXOR. bad joke. venlafaxine gives me the runs

BUT THIS IS TOOO MUCH!!! SIMILAR TO HIS OPPONENT.

Antidepressant can be mixed with shrooms without any precautions! U are not giving meth, coke, speed or MDM*.* to your MOM?

If she use that drug for long time, effects will be somewhat lower, but only something like 5-10%. But gift from that sub effect is normal thoughts and mind flow on trip and what is most important, day after! Shit loads of serotonine waits in synaptic hole to merge with higher number of AD made post synaptic serotonine receptors! Psilocine is going to relive strong connected serotonine out of receptors and fresh one will burst in after 8 hour sleep after trip. One danger is hypomanical action. But very rare.
