I have alot of mushrooms in the fridge in a container with holes, they have been there +/- a month, they seem ok, but they have grown a bit since i harvested, and one of the hats has a black spot (the spot was attached to the side of the box, it looks like it didn't get much air). If i eat them tonight, will it be okay? I'm sorry for not showing photos, but i do not have the oppertunity

What have you exactly done with the shrooms? Did you put fresh mushrooms into the fridge? Or had you already dried them and did them after that in the fridge? If you have dried them well, then you can keep you shrooms for a really longtime, but i don't know if this is also possible if there still fresh. I think we really need a picture and take a look at your shrooms to see if you still can eat them.

The blackspot could be spores from the caps. I think, i get that a lot when i harvest just a bit to late

When you pick fresh mushrooms, don't you need to do something to stop the growing? (Like dipping in cold water?) I remember seeing something like that on 'How It's Made'.

What do you mean? That mushrooms still are growing when you harvested them? I never have seen my own mushrooms growing after i had harvested them.....

I wish my mushrooms grew after I picked them :D The mushrooms have no substrate to grow off when you pick them.

But I believe the blackness on your mushrooms is rotting. I am not sure if they are okay to eat, but if you were to make tea I think you would be fine. Wait for others to reply, but I think you would be fine. Some Cyanescans I found in nature has that exact black spot you describe, and I was fine after consuming them.

peace & love

Thank you!
This was the last flush of my box so all the mushrooms had some "soil" attached to the bottom, maybe thats why they continued growing, they have actually grown alot bigger. And they have been in the fridge too, hmm. Anyways, i eat some yesterday and it was no problem. I have never maked a tea out of mushrooms before, does anyone got a good recipe?

Hrm... I wonder what I was thinking of than... Lol, now this is gonna bug me all day long.

You never made mushroom tea? Then it's about time! The point of tea is that you'll get more psilocybin into your system quicker than with just chewing the mushrooms. It's worth it. I never do mushrooms again if it's not in a tea!

Anyways - dry your shrooms when you harvest them! That way you don't risk any contaminations. Properly dried mushrooms hold their powers for months. At least if you take 5g+ you won't notice any big difference to fresh shrooms.

btw. xibalba, I notice your name is probably derived from "the fountain". Just love that movie! Or maybe not and you are really into maya mythology - and then you just need to see that movie!

I've seen the movie, thats where Xibalba is from. My favorite movie, offcourse.
My friend tried 3g dreid hawaiian mushroom which we made tea of, his first trip, can't wait to hear how it went.
