mushroom hunting - finds, bounty, et cetera

i'd like to use this as a thread for discussion of non-psilo mushroom hunting
i know there are some fellow enthusiasts on the board - please share!

this week-end MNG & i travelled to the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival
we took a gorgeous back-road route through the mountains
on the return drive MNG had me stop the car three times in order to investigate some curious white shapes she spotted on the roadside

Coprinus comatus (shaggy mane)

not pictured are the two volleyball-sized Calvatia gigantea (giant puffball), which we spent the rest of the night & following after-noon frying & baking
unfortunately the shaggy manes began to degrade away in to ink before we could cook 'em up--lesson learned

the inkcaps pictured above make good soup. the stem has an unusual crunch to it. very good

Nice, I've only had Shaggy Manes once...would be nice to have some Morels too.
