At one point it appears it was fairly easy to get..

It it even floating around anymore? Or is consuming massive quantities of san pedro about the only way to go now?

I remember a few years ago a friend of mine was randomly given a capsule on the street by someone he gave directions to.. was an utter surprise.. (apparently was pretty good too)

Yeah I'm pretty sure as a street drug mescalines kind of gone the way of the kuckoo but if you really want to you can always extract it yourself from san pedro there are loads of teks for just such a procedure and youtube is always a good resource

Mescalin has never been available in any quantity as a street drug . One reason is that its expensive to synthasise another is the size of dose = 350 - 500 mgs and another is because it can be very physical = pukeing .

The capsule you are talking about probably contained "Pseudo Lophophora Williamsii Hofmannii"

I really don't understand why mescaline never really kicked in as a popular drug. I tried it two times now (extract from San Pedro) and loved it each time. I haven't had high doses of it so far, only one low and one medium, but I loved it every time. It seemed in certain aspects similar to mdma, only more spiritual. A really powerful psychedelic with a warm and loving effect.
I absolutely want to do a high dose of mescaline as soon as I have enough San Pedro again, I have absolutely no doubts even a high dose will deliver a very joyfull and 100% beautiful trip for me.
I mean I also love a good shroom trip once in a while, but the high doses always require a certain amount of braveness because at least one third of the trip is always kind of difficult for me. Some part is always really exhausting and scary (which isn't a bad thing, but I need to be in a brave mood to do it).

Mescaline seems to lack that aspect, but also brings you into a really spiritual mood.
Mescaline is the only psychedelic drug I would consider taking at festivals or similar events.
