I think that there is alot of mental release and anxiety relief while taking mushrooms. for instance the other day me n my companion had a lil sesh n when our fungi began to take hold it started off as normal. but then as the drug effect progressed my frend began to become disoriented. which as most of us know is normal butit was different. we were watchin some sports game but i wanted to watch a more appropriot show, a cartoon, but thats besides the point. when i asked to change the channel he said very promptly "NO" he stated that if he did not watch this than he wouldnt be accepted in his house because he had to learn the stuff about the games to fit in. now this may have been the drug or it may have been some kinda release from his inner mind. maybe like somthing he could not admit to him self orr too much of a secret to bear. ny one wanna help me out with this one?[/b]

I once was tripping with three of my friends. While my one friend had a terrible first hour (it changed with some cold water thrown in her face), the two others were reliving their childhood and saying gibberish like "shit, poop, fuck, penis" and things like that, I was reliving what felt like a past life under a blanket in the next room looking over the prairies and actually being a native american chief... Since then, my friend had another bad trip on shrooms while I had only positive ones. Shrooms can do different things to different people (obviously), so I guess that's just how it goes. Maybe your friend can do a trip without external input (no TV, no music, just your own thoughts). While you gotta be strong to do that, it also gives you no way out and confronts you with your fears, which is the only way of mastering them. If he's up for it, then why not? Just make sure you sit by his side, preferably sober.

You can become pretty obsessive about things when you're on shrooms - but that's also a way to learn about yourself. Did your friend ever realize this about sports on tv or was it just like it came out of nowhere? If it did, then it might be pretty hard for him to realize that it might be true - that he really is unconsciously obsessed with sports to fit in. Maybe, maybe not - these are the questions that come up on trips, the important thing is that you deal with them keeping an open mind.

Also what I learned about tripping is that it never helps if you try to fight thoughts or feelings - if it's getting too much for you then you have to relax, breathe slowly and deeply and just let go. If you're able to relax and let go then you can take much more, see more and learn more!

Well
My advice to this question is:
Do not watch television
its as simple as that
in my latest trip I had a couple of weeks ago at a friends place
the tv was on.. at first I had like big plans to go out into the woods and totally space out u know :) but well we made some tea and put the shrooms in it yada yada
started tripping while the tv was on so automaticly I started watching it
really weird cause i`ve watched a movie or 2 I think but everything seemed like 1 big commercial making completely NO SENSE AT ALL seriously then I really realized how stupid commercials were but anyways.
the whole time I`ve watched tv while at first I wanted to go out into the woods but my friends wouldn't want to, but at a moment they asked me come on lets go to the woods and I was like nooo waaaaaay dude if I go now i`m gonna loose it, cause I just wanted to sit there
so what i`m trying to say is that when u start to focus on something like that when in a shroom trip its hard to let go of that..
so next time just dont do shrooms when ur watching tv and believe me a whole new world of hallucination will open before your very eyes :)

OMG. tv on shrooms, that's totaly carma NO-NO!
It's sacred mushroom, better sing a bhajan song together,
or just meditate..

yeah, that's true - tv while tripping involves you so much in the program that all the feelings and stuff start to influence you. And because most tv programs tend to be tragic and emotional, they will almost always leave you with a bad feeling. You miss the whole trip plus you're feeling bad --> not a good idea!

I always thought that tripping brings out the innate two-dimensionality of TV entertainment, since it just looks and feels totally flat and unresponsive compared to what's going on around you, but what do I know.

Probably depends - what I always experience with shrooms and tv is that everyone on tv suddenly looks really ugly. Just like if you see through their shiny masks into the real person behind it.

About the getting bad feelings from tv: this is what I experienced with higher doses of shrooms where you get extremely sensitive to music, sounds and words. At this level of a trip I wouldn't want to go out amongst people neither because I'm just oversensitive.
