I just wanted to see what you think of melatonin supplements (available in pill form at most grocery stories).
I occasionally take it, and am curious to see if anybody else does. If I take a 3mg pill before bed I tend to have pretty vivid dreams. My dreams are usually vivid anyway (fortunately!), so I'm not sure if I can credit melatonin with the dreams.
If I take two 3mg pills about an hour before bed, it gets a little more interesting. While laying in bed, I'll occasionally have quick closed-eye visuals. They're hard to explain, but basically the normal black (lack of light due to closed eyes) will be supplemented by a quick flash of color. One example is a quick bust of flame that appeared in my closed-eye vision.
Anybody else try this? Do you know of negative effects of the pill? I had a friend who took like 10 pills once and he said he had nightmares for a week....

Here's the TiHKAL entry for it:

Sounds like Shulgin and co. didn't have much success with it.. would be interesting if it caused some people to have vivid CEV though.. I tend to get those naturally all the time anyway.. especially after a very happy day, or a good day outdoors or something.. or after listening to music with eyes closed for half an hour..

I'm pretty sure that there is no connection between your friends nightmares and the melatonin, as melatonin is a natural compound in your brain, and if it is not needed it can be converted to serotonin or other substances.
correct me if I'm talking bullshit here.

no, you're right.

I can without melatonine see weird lights when closed my eyes, also imagine world and places where I am so real. Dreams are so strong like nightmares but I also percept nightmares as "nice" dream. Trough the war I experienced bad-nightshitmare dreams. Now nightmare are just some kind of fighting or running with stronger "power" but all that is only competitive kind experience called "nightmare". 8)

i was taking it for a while but the dream were too much they were also sooo erotic, like i was a teenager again i would be distracted all day. but it was interesting

I tried 2 times 5 mg melatonine, because my day/night scheme was totally messed up and I needed to fix that for some reason.
I got the tablets from a friend, who is using it daily, he has an serious sleeping disorder and have them prescribed from a doctor (the 0,1 of 0,2 mg that are free available in the stores here, are way to soft for him).

They were way to strong for me, they made me wake up pretty tired and I felt pretty tired the whole day. But I fixed my day/night scheme.

I made a topic about this subject in the past: http://www.psychonaut.com/index.php?opt ... ms&lang=en
