I have read that when one smokes ganja one's "alpha waves" are stimulated or something and that these waves are associated with deep relaxation and extra sensory perception. This makes perfect sense to any smokers :); I have also read anecdotal techniques (here on the forums) of waking in the middle of the night, burning a joint and trying to fall asleep again while remaining conscious.

On the other hand I've read that cannabis actually impairs one's dreaming abilities and chronic smokers don't seem able to recall their dreams or don't dream AT ALL (again, anecdotal)...

So has anyone here used the kaneh bosm to induce lucid dreaming??

HELP ME my parents are away for today which means I can actually smoke in my bed!!!

smoking in bed doesn't sound too good. anyway, I don't know if this would work, as I made the experience that you forget almost everything. I had the most vivid and lucid dreams when I stopped smoking cannabis. one trick is to get up in an absolutly tired state and be awake for 15 minutes or so and then get back to bed again. always worked pretty good for me

I agree with misery , i smoked for 35 years and hardly ever dreamed , now that i have stopped i dream every night VERY vividly . Cannabis is known to effect the short term memory wich i think you need for dreaming as well as normal daily functioning . I think dreaming is a bit like computer hygene = regularly deleting unneeded files , defragmentation , cleaning and compacting the registry and repairing defects on your hard disc drive with scandisc . That the effects of not doing it are the same as not dreaming , your computer goes much slower , makes mistakes , looses information and eventualy crashes .

Totally true. When I was smoking on a daily basis, I used to call it the "black sleep". No dreams at all, or at least none I could remember, but it felt more like there were none (that's why I called it my "black sleep" because there was nothing).

The most vivid dreams I had when I had stopped smoking weed and then took fluoxetine for a while (it's a shitty drug in my opinion, I'm glad I got rid of it, but it seemed to induce vivid dreams in the beginning)

the good thing is, you only have the feeling as if you are not dreaming :D
without dreaming you become insane, that's for sure.

"fluoxetine"

= Prozac . I asked my doctor for some when they were first available here because i had read about them being "happy pills" , all i felt was a little zombifyed , = less thinking was going on in my head . After a few weeks i stopped taking them and felt much better . I read later that lots of the kids who did school masackers in the U.S. had been on prozac .

(I allso read that the amis pump their pilots full of ritalin and thats why there are so many "friendly fire" incidents . Maybe the bastards from Blackwater were pumped full of them when they masacered all those Iraqies a few weeks ago .)

"the good thing is, you only have the feeling as if you are not dreaming , without dreaming you become insane, that's for sure."

I think that that is one of the reasons why so many chronic cannabis smokers get mild depression , isolate themselves and take less part in life and / or get a little paranoid to the point of getting a bit of a mild psychosis .

The stupid fucking server seems to be having a bad day , again , today . I keep writing a Z in prozac but it keeps writing Prosac !!!!

Well... you got me thinking and a while ago I had my first semi-lucid dream and I did some remembering and it was on the same week I stopped smoking :o (although I cheated a little)

And for the record I didn't did the wake n' bake because a lot of people ended in my house (no parents remember) I and got to bed around 6 AM

What I DID do was I ate a pill of ecstasy (Green Pantern it was called) and I was very happy all night 8)
after some time of taking it I really felt the effects and couldn't shut up!! I started talking to my friends about the way society programs us and how you can re-program yourself if you are aware of it

Thanks for your answers, I guess if in the future I want some lucid dreaming I'll have to stop smoking completely

Smoking cannabis tends to suppress my dreaming a bit, so although the information posted above is interesting, I'd doubt it'd work for me.
I usually dream more vividly when I take 5-HTP or L-Tryptophan before sleeping.
