Little idea for psychonauts

Hello guys.

I'm Sebastian, moderator of the french's forums with Tiax and Telico.

In the french part, we was talking about creating an association some times ago and I had an idea :

Why not create a little book with a tenth of pages with the first and second page would talk about rules to respect to use drug with the maximum safety and respect, followed by some pages (1 page for each drug, the most common like MDMA & ecstasy, LSD, Cocain, Mescaline, shrooms ...). We could talk about risks, usual tips to prevent or stop a bad trip (like C vitamin for shroom ...), make a little description of the effect of each drug, a part "Did you know..." with errors that people often do or believe (for exemple, in teknival and others, eveybody believe that LSD, which is also called "acid" is really acid and can make a hole on a jean, or destroy the teeth in one night :mrgreen

Designed with psychonaut's colors and logo, the top of page blue as the forum's banner is and the pages ping.

This little book would be written only for information and wont be an invitation to take those drugs, information only, not incitement.

Tell me if it can be a good or a bad idea and why. If everybody agree with it we could start a topic in the moderator's section where everyone will post his ideas to put in this book.

Why not after share it in a PDF file or print it and selling it at a very low price on the psychonaut's website ?

It's maybe idiot, it's just an idea anyway.

I think CaduceusMercurius has a lot of texts already written on ditiseentrip.nl, although it is all in Dutch.... I'm sure he can help. I think it is a good idea to offer basic information about sensible drug use in as many languages as possible. I applaud your idea. Make it happen. I'm willing to help write/translate if you have a specific task.

I know there's already a lot of websites talking about that, but a little more information is never a bad thing I think. The main idea is to do a little book attractive, fast to read, where everyone will learn usual things. A compacted version of the most useful things

It has not for objective to learn EVERYTHING about a drug, but only the main lines, the most useful tips, the most surprinsing information, and that's the difference with big websites, it wont take long to read it, but they'll learn, that's sure

I like the idea, it wouldn't be so much work as we have a nice bunch of informed people around here.

But I feel like we should do it for the french speakers initially, and if the concept works, maybe someone will want to translate (and print it) in english.

As deviant pointed out, there's already a few good websites that covers those things, but nothing exists in french, that why I think it would be more useful to do the book in this language first.

Plus, we already discussed about doing such a thing on the french board, and some people seemed ready to get into it.

We'll see how things turns out (I guess it'll mostly depend on the printing cost).

Hmmm, in simple words you want to add some information to psychonaut.com, which also can be downloaded? Lately, i have been working at a major update for psychonaut.com. I keep the same the design and use also phpbb(but then only a newer version), but i am also going to add drupal to it. Which allows us, to do a lot stuff with content, creating books etc. There is a module for drupal which makes automatically a pdf from the content of the website.

So i think this is a great idea I still have to do a lot of work before the major update is ready. But i want to try to finish it, in one or two month's....

Of course there would be an free online version, but I think having a number of physical copies would allow us tu distribute them at parties and whatever (who said Churches, Statehouses and primary schools?)...
