LONDON - Sending email and sms on a regular basis is more damaging for your intelligence then using cannabis. This argument was made by British psychologists, who have done research under 1100 volunteers, by order of the technology company Hewlett Packard.
According to the research, which was published in the British newspapers The Times and The Guardian, the frequent use of electronic text messages leads to sleepyness, apathy and concentration problems. Using email also turned out to be very addictive.
The IQ of the participants showed a temporarily decrease of no less than 10 points. The researchers mentioned that for cannabis users this is 'only' four points on average. They call this phenomenon, that seems to apply especially to working males, "infomania".
