Is this cactus ready?

Hey!

I've been looking at my cactus and I'm getting the feeling that he might be ready for consumption. Well, at least I am :)

He seems more healthy than before.

He has 2 years more or less, since he arrived this house. He was 6 cm and now has 53cm.

I'll put here some photos so you can see better and give your opinion.

By the way, can you tell me if there's any problem with those spots on the close-ups?

That cactus looks nice not bad for 2 years work. Swim hears 30cm is enough for one person. The spots at the top may be due to a bit too much water. the bit at the bottom may be just corking that's normal, it maybe mites, keep an eye and see if it spreads. How often is the cactus watered? Nothing to worry about yet anyway.

Cut the tip at 15cm, cut the bottom at 15cm above ground, Let the tip heal for a week or two and plant it, the bottom will grow another column. Middle bit is for whoever and theres two live cacti at the end of it. Win/win. =) Dont forget to use a sharp knife and wipe it with rubbing alcohol or something disinfectant.
 
The cactus spend 5 months without water (winter and spring time), now I'm giving it water every 3 / 4 days.

Those spots at the bottom are there for almost a year now, and luckily didnt spread so I don't think they are mites.

Hmm, 30 cm is enough? I mean, it's a little thin. Though, this will be my first experience with mescaline.
 
It is ready for consumption, yes. Cut with a sterile knife. Start with 30 cm. It'll usually give a mescaline experience somewhat over threshold, but quite enjoyable with physiqual energy.

However, you must learn how to ingest without puking and in my experience 60 cm of SP gives a much more profound trip. More elaborated visuals, feelings of 'flying' when walking (like there is no gravity), strong insights of life about good and bad and how to live, extreme softness and with open eyes the colours become richer than with any other entheogen. It's very euphoric as well. Ultra fine body load as you're a swollen balloon.

It's lots of material, hours with cramps/sickness, drowsiness for some time, but more than worth it and once you got to know the hidden character with meditation, you'll realise why mescaline is the world of dreams.

I have gotten myself some old peyotes, and I'm stuck between desire and compromise, I somehow want to keep them as sacred childs, but it has been said that once you've experienced a proper Peyote trip, SP is just a mild form of mescaline no matter what. I still have to collect some more big buttons though. So 'nuff time left to think.
 
I've read somethings about mescaline and the experience itself. And it's captivating.

Good, so I'll start with 30cm to get used to the taste and to feel my stomach reaction too.

I know I can find good ways to consume mescaline on other scources such as erowid or even check the forum. But since you talked/brought that up, the situation of puking, can I ask you how would/do-you consume SP cactus to get the most of it?
 
Through drying all the material. Remove all the spikes and the skin carefully, and then drying the parts in front of a fan or more fans. Can take about a week or more. Eventually swallowing the dried parts with liters of juice over a period of 2/3 hours.

But remember I'm blessed with a great and regulary demanding appetite, a bigger stomach and posture than most, stable bowels, a stubborn attitude, and hardly vulnerable for nausea. It may be not prefered by many. The stomach gets a heavy digestion. And it's also broken down very gradually. 60 cm fresh, and later on dried, lasts about 18 hours.

It "strong" that way, and the trip will be probably included with phases of anxiety (for me it was). But I never believed it to be possible, quite a heavy intensity but full control over the direction. A dreamlike state with a broad space to create and live my dreams. Everything was going slow, and I felt mucous for hours.

With dried shrooms out of the frozen fridge, I can do nothing else then capitulate to the effects, and acid is a shallow experience. But despite concrete tripping on mescaline, there's mystical control with magical possibilities if you lay down and meditate without being restrained.

Just kick off with 30 cm, and once you know what your physical reaction is, you can increase next time. It is something that may be not missed, there are a hundred reasons to use the deeper fields of this sacred medicine.
 
Personally, I think it’s a little thin.
Although the length seems ‘reasonable’ for a mild dose, I think at that size, the experience may be underwhelming. Mescaline generally requires doses in the hundreds of milligrams for a significant psychedelic experience, and cacti, especially san pedro, vary greatly in potency.

If you haven’t any experience with this particular san pedro, the dose could be considerably variable.

I recommend removing the spines and waxy outer-skin (being careful not to remove any of the green flesh), cutting it into slices, removing the core of each slice, drying the slices using a fan, then powdering it all in a coffee grinder or using a mortar and pestle.
You can put the powder into capsules, mix it with juice or simply eat it.
This seems to be the best method of consumption, short of an extraction.
 
Powder in capsules didn't work for me. It takes round 60!! Double O caps for 50 grams of powder, but al those capsules upset youre belly even more than the cactipowder, and all my not even opened capsules came all out while walking on the street.

But I think that the cacti in the pictures is a bit on the skinny side for consumption. But than again you can't tell from the outside :lol: enjoi!

I think I'll wait for the end of the summer, wich is in 2/3 months and then have a little conversation with Mr. Pedro :)

I think drying it , and then, either, eat it like that (as I would be eating chocolate) or dry it and grind it to powder and later mixing it with coffee or some drink, would be the best way to consume it.


I once saw my brother do it with a fresh SP or Peruvian, cant remember. He made a paste of it, and then cooked it. Later he puted that paste in a blanket (it was fresh) and it was pending above a tupperware trickling till it no longer had more water.
At the time I remember thinking that it was waste of mescaline, since some of the water would be absorbed by the blanket, other would evaporate (since it was a very slow process), and while boiling on the stove I guess it would lose something too.
 
Out of interest

If you take 200g of dried SP can you sit it in OJ for a week and then drink it? Does the mescaline form the citrate salt or would the drying already ensure an acetate?

The reason i asked is that i botched an extraction (flatmates came home early) so i have a oilly solid from everything (benzene, hcl solution, crude). Would it be possible to wash the bowl very thoroughly with acetone to remove fats and soluble (its already HCL salt) and then use OJ or anything water based to drink down residue?

This has grow out from 30cm cacti in two Y? Weird! But I never had such base like U have. My base was never smaller then 20cm! OK, 15-19cm. But 20 after couple portions of water after long journey from Peru. Have real genetic material from Peru in Echinopsis pachanoi cacti. Cruiser friend cook gift them to me. Will post new photo now. Could U believe that I haven given no water to my Peyos and Pedros in 50 days, summer days!! But they are holding really good! Work fucks me up and always forget to water them. But something else comes good out of this. Lots of alkaloids. Cause I will use them this week. Finally find myself trustworthy to use them. And bout your cacti. Cook it whole. After 2 hour low fire cooking eat hard stuff. And then wait one hour more. then drink brew. If U feel only slight trip then climate is wrong not prep of stuff.

I think I'll wait till winter and then consume them.

And I guess it's a good idea not to eat it all, just cut 10 cm above bottom a nd 10 cm bellow the top. So I can still have 2 more cactus to grow. It's a Win/win/win situation hehe.

There is only one way to find out if that cactus is "ready" and thats eat it . From looking at it i doubt it very much . I think its to young and its to small .
