I just found out about Juno Reactor. They've been around since the 90ies and were obviously one of the first groups to officially release a goa-trance album.
It's kind of embarassing I found out about them only now... nevertheless, I very much like what they're playing... maybe some of you missed them too (like I did). Check them out, they're far beyond the goa now, lots of beats, guitars and vocals - still really psychedelic.

Juno reactor played a huge role in my introduction to psy music...

I don't know how you could have missed their music, they made the matrix soundtrack :)

hehe definately!! all matrix soundtracks are amazing except the matrix revolutions soundtrack which i dont know. also i can really reccomend to you the soundtrack of ANIMATRIX and also the movie which is made by the producers of the matrix films. :P

I don't know, I'm a bit prejudiced about psy-acts like juno reactor, infected skazi projection etc..

I guess their first stuff was quite good, but god, I can't stand the new stuff, especially infected and skazi. I think it speaks 1000 words that infected produced their last album in hollywood. If I'm wrong, correct me.
I don't know about juno reactor though.

I'm more up for darkpsy. it still is (in most cases) quite psychedelic. much of the fullon stuff isn't psychedelic at all anymore.

/end rant ;)

p.s.: check out Tryambaka, he's my personal favourite at the moment, it's the best psy I've heard in ages.

Yeah the new infected album is terrible...:vom:
There are 2 songs on it that are ok, but it's an exact copy of their old work...

I wouldn't place juno reactor in the full-on corner, it's more like soft dark psy...

I once heared that in Israël, Skazi advertises for Coca-Cola

as I said, I don't know about Juno reactor.

but wtf, instant brainfuck:

I'm still skeptic if this is for real.

Juno Reactor is awesome, they're also great live.
But comparing Juno Reactor with Skazi and Infected Mushroom, that's a big nono buster! :p

Infected Mushroom moved to LA, so that's why the last album sucked donkeyballs

I knew and liked the Matrix soundtrack, but somehow I never checked out the band behind it. Although... I wasn't that much into psy at the time. One of the first psy albums I ever listened to was a bad tape copy of "Eclipse", which I totally loved, especially the first track. Much later I found out Eclipse was a Simon Posford/TIP production and the first track was a 20 minute version of ...and the day turned to night by shpongle.

I liked the old Infected Mushroom stuff (which, except eclipse, was about the only psy stuff I knew back then). I never really liked (and still don't like) the full-on psytrance - it often sounds to me like the early beginnings of techno music - and those beginnings weren't too great in my opinion... :)

If you're not sure about the new Juno Reactor stuff - well, it's not really psytrance anymore, it seems to be everywhere between psy-breakbeat-dub and psy-stoner-rock-electronics (listen to "Inca Stepper" and then "Immaculate Crucifixion" on their myspace and I hope you know what I mean).

Why is it 'dark', though?

Don't get me wrong, dark psy is my main genre these days, but why 'dark'?

I've only heard really shit darkpsy, but it might just be my musical taste :p
Texas Faggots, Ocelot, stuff from the Helicon label, but it doesn't really do anything for me.
Just fast kicks bassline and screaming sounds.
So what do you guys think is good darkpsy?
I must say I like some full-on better, but there just are too much 13 in a dozen tracks imho

So what do you guys think is good darkpsy?

I just discovered Encephalopaticys
Other: Wizard Lizard, Baphometh Engine, Noise Gust, Para Halu, Saikozaurus...

But if you don't like Ocelot, chances are big you won't like any of these :)

I don't like ocelot that much neither.

but kindzadza is great darkpsy.
tryambaka isn't that dark, but it's awesome.
and I sure do enjoy Furious.
Gappeq is a nice newcomer

and there are many samplers, which are often quite good.

You don't like Ocelot?

Dylalien, Alien Mental, Overdream, Dark Nebula, Zik/Horror Place, Ocelot, Goa Gil, a close friend that produces (he's on the album Distinctions, if anyone's heard it), and a few other individual songs really turn me on =D

But it's not 'scary' for me. Just intensely psychedelic.

Why do you guys don't like IM last album ? Because it's too mainstream ?

I think it's hippies turning businessmen.
Mushroom users turning to Coke-addicts.

[Humble opinion alert]
BTW: Dark-psy is NOT my thing, I don't know, it totally misses the Psychedelic edge, it's just lame kicks n basses with fucked up sounds.
[/Humble opinion alert]

Actually I liked every IM album. The last one surprised me a lot, but I definitely like it aswell. The song "heavyweight" drives me crazy everytime I listen to it.

I saw them on stage a few weeks ago. It was beautiful, really. :)
