The title of this thread is good: how a cult can evolve. There are always many factors involved. This video reminds me of a story someone once told me. There was a teacher who had a dog, and this teacher would give a lecture in the village every Thursday. During the lecture he would tie the dog to a certain tree near the lecture area. People heard his lectures for many years, until the man one day died, and another learned person was selected to continue giving a weekly lecture. Every Thursday the people would come to the lecture area, tie a dog to the tree, and then hear the new lecturer speak. Why tie a dog to the tree? Well, because that was the example set by the original teacher. A silly example perhaps, but this is (in part) how many customs and traditions are created.

traditions can be dangerous indeed. this video should be broadcasted in churches the world over.

It reminds me strongly of astrology .

Why?

Because its an irational cult based on ignorance and fantasy .

Yes, I thought it was important to set it like that. Dawkins (the maker of the movie) is a real enemy of any religion/cult/tradition, and as the title of the movie says, he sets it as the proof for the senselessness of any religion. There are parallels, I guess but every cult has its own story. It is a funny story though  [/code]
