Hi Springbranch,
Welcome to the world of cactus. First, let me give you a little info on my experience level on cactus, so that you have that for a reference. I've been involved with the cactus for almost a year now. Due to severe depression, having to deal with childhood abuse and a host of other life issues, I have chosen alternative paths to my healing, which is why I am here. On that path I have discovered that this cactus has done a world of healing for me, beyond what any medical professional has ever done for me.
The frequency of use is/was once a week for the first couple of months and then once every 2 to 3 weeks. My very first experience was "disappointing" at the time, as I only felt discomfort and did not have the glowing experiences others talked about such as visuals and mystical experiences.
Here's my opinion based on my own experience on why you may not have felt or gotten results that you hoped for:
1. Cactus never gives you want you expect - it gives you what you need at that time. It is a real being with intelligence much higher than you may realize.
2. Cactus is much like any other person - the more time you put into preparing your brew, the more thought and love you focus on it as you are preparing, the more it will unfold during the journey/trip.
3. Proper preparation is very time consuming - every time I have rushed and not taken my time it has always been as you described. It is only after I began to slow simmer for at least a total of 15 to 17 hours (I freeze the material for 2 days, then blender it so it is in little pieces, then simmer for 6 to 10 hours the first day while speaking affirmations to it, the next day is 3 to 4 hours of simmering on very low with 3 to 4 washes) , along with my personal chants/affirmations and a direct focus of love with the brew that I started to experience the magic.
It took me about 5 tries to finally get it right. Be patient. If you're in it to seek wisdom and healing from the plant, let me say it's worth it. If you're just looking for giggles and kicks, then I would advise you to seek another option. Kind regards
