I have just tried to grow some spores. I didn't put the spore syringe in the fridge until about a week after receiving it in the mail and then kept it in the fridge for about 4-5 weeks. Would the spores have still been ok?
In any case I was very careful to work in sterile conditions when preparing the substrate, wearing gloves and mask and spraying the surroundings with alcohol. I also have an air purifier next to the box where i keep the jars.
However, after 7 days there is still no sign of growth in the jars.
is it possible that the humidity was too low? it doesn't mention anything in the instructions about humidity for setting up the substrate, but i have a feeling it's important.
What should i do now? will the spores still have a chance to get growing if i increase the humidity now, or is it best to start over?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
