I've bought some trichocereus pac. on the net, and they arrived like this.

I've watered them with fertilizer once potted (with echinopsis soil), and they're now indoor (not over 23°, not below 15°), in a non-direct sun light.

Now, are these brown spots a problem? do they need more water?
I'm very scared of rot them :?

thanks for eventually help me, and sorry if I post so many topics in a so little time :D

well... actually looks like the same damage, but I couldn't get to see any web or mites on my cacti (both with lens and high definition fotocamera).
Should I go for a chemical solution anyway or can be some other problem either?

I'm now using a tobacco and garlic extract to kill mites , as is suggested over the net (also not to contaminate them).

BUT
2-3 days ago I noticed this black spot in one cacti and this white on another wich makes me think of a cochineal.

.. HELP?

That black spot looks rotten.
Cut it out before it spreads!

i dont know much about Cochineal, we dont get them here. use a systemic fungicide safe for food crops ASAP. cutting out the rot may help but usually by the time you see fungal disease it is all throurgh the water storage cells.

tobacco/garlic may work but spider mite become resistant very quickly. i would buy a food crop safe insecticide suitable for the treatment of mite

I'm not sure about your cacti here anyways - the quills are really long, that doesn't look like a San Pedro, San Pedro has very short quills like these http://psychoactiveherbs.com/catalog/im ... tings2.jpg

They might be a little longer - I have one plant with really short quills like in the picture and another with a little longer ones, and both are active (tested!), but your cacti really look different. They might be Peruvian Torches, which have long quills, but they are usually more of a color like this http://images.bidorbuy.co.za/user_image ... Torch7.jpg

On Edot they said those are non predominant trichocereus pachanoi, for there are several species of trich. pac.

also, the I've bought them online, from a good source, and those should be san pedros

Sorry about your cactus problem. I hope it is fixed.

It may be a pedro hyrbid also. The way the spikes are grouped make it look that way

1 stop looking on other sites for information . All it will do is confuse you . If you cant solve the problem look on a non drug site for info and dont talk on their forums about what it is , why you have it or where you got it from . If they ask tell them you got them from a garden center .
2 you shouldnt have given it fertiliser yet or water .
3 dont water it / them again for a month or so and then 150 - 200 mls .
4 how many cacti are on the pictures ? At least one of the pictures isnt of a pachanoi .
5 if you cant get what Mr.Smith is talking about mix tobaco with water and green soap . Green soap is plant soap and it stops insects breathing . Garlic wont do anything exept make everthing STINK .
6 you should have left them alone when you got them and just put them somewhere where they dont get any sun to give them a chance to get over travaling and get used to where they are .
