help a noob out?

hey guys, i was thinking about starting to grow my own mushrooms, but i had a few questions. 1st, whats the easiest/best type to grow for a beginner? second, what kind of food should i give them? (rice cakes?) third, what kind of environment should i keep them in? i live in alberta, Canada. and lastly, whats a good site thats cheap, that has a high quality product?

well i just remembered my friend telling me about a site, so i ended up getting these three strains, Mestizo, B+, and Alacabenzi Strain. (spores)
soo yeah, i hope those are good strains.. i was told B+ is very popular

Also, is it possible to start growing more mush from the ones im going to have already? i was told that the gills contain spores, is that true? if so, how hard is it to start another jar with them?

DONT GET Alacabenzi!!!! I have had very bad results with that strain. I would recommond Cambodian!!

Take a spore print when you have fresh mushrooms; right before the cap is going to drop it's spores. You have to make sure everything is sterile though and it is a little tricky, at least in my own experience. It's only 15 bucks from spores101, unless you watch the flash player at the top and type it the $5 discount! So I would just recommond buying a new syringe everytime, unless you want to make a print.

but yeah, i hope the strains turn out! and what exactly do you mean by a print? just take a steral bag and put the gills into it?
