I was wondering if it was possible to grow Amanita like the psylocybine strains.
I know that amanita forms a symbiot with the roots of certain species with trees. But I don't know what's the deal with the normal shrooms.
But I think a box filled with fully grown amanitas looks nice in the living room :D

"Amanita cultivation in a lab environment has always been an impossibility due to the symbiotic mycorrhizal relationship of this mushroom to its host trees."

So it seems that it can't be done. Unless you are ready to plant a tree in your livinroom. :p

well how big must this tree be? If it's okay if the tree is 1 m, why not? :P
Maybe that's a nice experiment! But how would you be able to do this?

Raoulduke: My advice to you is to go to a more professional growing site... I know my ass will be kicked for this but it'll be better... There will be loads of more people that grow and help you better...

why would your ass be kicked if you ofer him info? just dont sell him stuf fia this forum.

I mean for advertising another forum...

It's just more specialised in the growing of mushrooms...

I've actually given this some serious thought myself too. One would just have to find more info about the symbiotic relationship that amanita's mycelium forms with the tree's root-system. Basically it probably boils down to the question of how big of a root-system is required (and that naturally goes hand in hand with the size of the tree).

But to contemplate on this matter seriously, more information should be gathered. But if I'm ever lucky enough to own a house, I'll definitely make an effort to make Amanitas grow in my garden under some specific trees. :smirk:

I would just go to the forest normally, but they have shut down some paths, because kids were destroying the Amanita's :iconhead:

Yeah well I of course also go to the forest. But When I see the state of the amanita's... usually worm inveseted pee'd over shrooms. Not really something to sink your teeth in!
But I own a house and have a backyard. And since I recently harvested my cannabis, there is space for a new project! :P
So if anyone has some suggestions on this, I would be happy to hear it!

At the 'Utrechtse heuvelrug' (the park I was talking about), they have excellent amanita's. Though they are distincting and since kids trample most of them, I will just let them grow in peace
