What kind of light do you use to grow your cacti indoors?

Tube lighting will work. But only for the first stage of the cacti from seed till small seedling. Adult plants gererally need more light than that.

Hey, so for optimal growth, it is neccesary to give the cactus a lot of light?

brugmansia,
tricho's :I 've made a nice place for my plants for in the winter. There is very little light, so i keep them almost dry and with some extra light.
My lopho's : I just keep them under light and good temp. and just keep watering once a month... they are doing fine and look very healty

With a "good temp." i mean , because i am watering and treat them as if it's summer i also keep the temp. above 20-24 celsius. cold temp and a lot of moist will kill them for sure

but in the desert, from where the cacti hail, i belive they have cold temperatures, but not to the point of freezing. i knew a person who left the cacti at 5ºC at night and 10ºC at day. and the cacti were healty and sturdy. the cactus can never freeze. that will kill him because of its high water content. perhaps your cacti think they live on a land of eternal summer

With constant 21-24°C and not enough light san pedro will grow thin. Light is the more important factor than temperature, I think. This winter I didn't give them any water and they look fine (yet they didn't grow at all). I was told most mescaline is produced in winter when they don't have much light and no water, so why keep them growing?

Its only for my small plants . The big plants i keep dry though. peyote i keep them growing.
And i'am not growing them only for the mescaline!! i really fell in love with my cacti!! aiaiaiai.... :?

Peyote produces mescaline when it goes into survival mode.

Quite logically as well. Peyote reckons it's winter and not a drop of rain will fall, therefore it wants to protect itself from thursty desert rats and starts producing mescaline.

In summer it puts its energy into growth. :)
