Growing For The 1st Time, Some Help Please...

Hey guys, I ordered my stuff a few days and got notification that all my goodys are well on there way to my house.. Anywho, this is my 1st time ever attempting to grow shrooms, but I have grown bud(not that it matters), so Im just trying to figure out what exactly I need to do.. Also, please note, I added the 2 addition items for an extra $55 with each Mycodome, which includes Mini MYG Kit & 6 substrate jars.. Dont ask why, I just did it to be safe incase I needed any of these, its my 1st time =P

Anyways, my general question was since I have 2 Mycodomes and 18 spores(Syringes), 6 different types, 3 of each, which out of everything I purchased will be the best for a beginner like myself, and how long can I keep the spores, because apparently I cant use them all @ once with only 2 Mycodomes, however it does have spots for upto 6 cakes(whatever that is =X) and I did order 6 different types so Im assuming I can grow 6 different types @ once.. Anyways, I dunno really what Im getting myself into and it was a kinda impulsive decision, but I figured the worst that can happen is it wont grow, so fuck it.. Any help would be great, thanks guys! Hey man,

Growing mushrooms is amazing.

Golden Teacher and Creeper are both good starters. If I remember correctly the creeper is a very fast growing strain.

Syringes keep good quite long. A while ago I got some way overdue Palenque syringes which weren't suppose to be still viable but they still are. I keep my syringes in the fridge (NOT freezer ) and have left them there for at least over six months.

That dome is a fun looking device. I never fiddled around with any of that myself but after years I'm still grow pf tek. Why? Because I'm lazy and I make up for lower yield by inoculating double the amount of jars.

I would love to see a grow log done in that dome btw

Don't get Alacabenzi. I had very bad results with that strain.

User -> I already purchased everything you see here, I know it mightve been a little much but I have never attempted to grow any shrooms, only bud(been very successful, grow 15-20 plants every 3-4 months =P), so I figured what the hell, I wanna give it a go.. But, I am still awaiting my arrival of my things, as soon as I get it in, I will take pictures and everything and keep it all in this thread(dont wanna look like Alejandro and spread it around lol).. Anywho, thanks for teh good words, I was worried alot of people would tell me not to bother or waste my time... I was curious, with the things I have purchased, what exactly do I do? Well, weve got plenty of time to talk and discuss how everything works, I will probably be recieving everything towards the end of this week, if not then by the beginning of next week! Also, what is "pf tek"?

I found that if you just grow for personal supply and some friends, this method is amazingly cheap and easy. You have one critical step, putting the spores in the jars with the substrate.

How I do it is by creating some kind of glove box, putting the syringes and the jars with substrate in it, spray the inside of the box with bleech/water and then after about 20 minutes, I put latex gloves on and inoculate the jars. I made 30 jars like this the past weeks and none contaminated.

Ya, I watched that, but no luck on finding any decent instructions on my mycodome and everything else.. It came with the mini jars with soil already in it, so I am assuming when my spores come, I spray .25cc into each hole, there is 4 holes on each jar, so thats 1cc of spore per jar, I got 12 jars total between my 2 kits, and Ive got 4 huge jars..

Of course, well, both of my kits arrived, as suspected, yesterday.. So, Im going to get some pictures of them taken today, and my spores are arriving on the 13th, which means, grow time... Okay, so now let me explain, from what Ive seen and heard, how to grow shrooms...

1st, you need to take your jars and put them into a pressure cooker to make sure there sterilized.. My question is, mine came with my mycodome, and are all sealed up and what not, so do I have to resterilize them? Also, whats the difference between my little mini jars and the huge ones Ive gotten..

2nd, after that is done, if that even has to be done, I inject my spores and let them sit for a few weeks, until the entire casing turns completely white... Now, another place Im stuck at.. I always hearing about the "dunk & roll" or something close to that when watching a video or reading a book on growing... Is that necessary? I thought all I had to do was:

Inject spores into jars, let sit for 2 weeks, take out, lay on my tray, allow a few weeks for growing in mycodome, lol.. Anywho, Im going to stop right here, and allow some people to answer my questions, Ive got a few days for you all to bang into my head what exactly I need to do and how important sterilization really is, b/c for some reason I watch those videos and think there a little overboard lol..

First off, making sure everything is sterile is VERY IMPORTANT. If one of our jars get contaiminated, you must throw it out. Some molds can kill you.

If you have boughten them from mushbox.com, they are presterile from my knowledge. Read any information that came with your growkit, and it should mention if they are sterile or not. There is not a big difference between the big jar and the little ones. The only difference is you may have to fruit them differently. This depends on how much bigger the bigger jar is than your half pint.

Well usually it is suppose to sit for around 21 days. Make sure they have around an 82 F environemnt so the myclium can grow. Also I would let the jars sit for an additional week after they are completly colionized. And the 'dunk and roll' is up to you. Some people say that it helps in producing larger flushes. I suggest you do it.

Okay, awesome.. Now, I have a few more questions:

I went to walmart and bought a big bin(one of those big plastic bin things with the lid).. I heard that when you 1st inject the spores, it has to be completely dark while this entire stage takes place, so does that mean I basically will place the jars in that and let them sit for 21-28 days before I ever take them out to check on them?? Also, Im going to ask my roommate if I can use his digital camera to take some pictues of what all I have, so if hes not tryin to be a douche bag Ill have some photos up within a few hours =)

Well you keep them in the dark for most the time. It is not vital that it is completly dark the entire time, you can check up on them. The majority of the time, it must be dark. Also I would recommond you invest in a heating blanket. You must keep the temperature at around 82 F. Also that big bin would only be good for the fruiting stage. You just need a warm, dark place for the jars while the myclium grows.

Heh, well, I guess because I live with a roommate, who tends to not be the cleanest person, and the only thing weve ever grown was chronic, thats why I am a bit worried =P I dont not think I cant do it, I know I can, I am just scarred that I will fuck everything up and what not.. Anywho, Ive got my iPhone back after being lost for 3-4 days, so now I can take pictures of my mycodomes and what not.. Also, guess what? My 1st order of spores arrives on the 12th!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay guys, it's 4:40AM(Eastern Time) and I cant sleep worth shit.. Why could this be alot of you may ask?! Well, perhaps it's because I am extremely stoned, or perhaps its my anxiousness of waiting for my spores to arrive within the next 4-6 hours I dunno, if I did, Id tell you :wink: Anyways, on top of that, spores101 now requires you to call in any orders over 150$ that have a different shipping address, so Ive gotta make sure Im awake to call them in so I can have all my spores here by the end of the week..
