Grow Kit: Mushroms only at the Sides?

Hello everyone,

I started to grow Stropharia Cubensis with the GrowBox purchased at Azarius. It took about 1,5 to 2 weeks for the first mushrooms to grow, but once they started they grow really fast!

One question though: The vermiculite in the box got less and less in the first few growing days so there was quite a big space between plastic box and the filling (vermiculite). The space between the box and the vermiculite filled up with yummy white mycelium and after a few days more some shrooms began to grow. My problem: There are only shrooms growing in the mentioned gaps, but none growing *on* the vermiculite.

Is this normal?
If it´s not: What can I do against it?

The shrooms are growing through the "gaps" at first because it is easier for them. Once the mycelium is fully grown also through the vermiculite then your shrooms will also grow there.

Maybe in you second flush the whole surface will be covered with shrooms ! , let us know how much and how potent the shrooms were.

Can you teach a unexpirienced dude which kit is better to purchase for a start? But to be able produce a rich amount of harvest, not just only 3-5 shrooms!

The Cubensis growbox can sometimes be a bit difficult when it comes to getting a bit yield. I would recommend the Philosopher Stones growkik, these are very simple to grow, you only have to harvest them. Sometimes there almost finished and sometimes they have to grow for a while , these you can only harvest once though.

As for the cubensis , give them enough water(sterile) and some fresh air and a temperature around 22 C. Moulds are not so important in this fase of the growing because much of the growing has already been done.

What about learning how to grow your own. Not to be a dick but i think its a crime what they ask for growkits nowadays. Prices are really out of proportion.

Still a lot cheaper than to buy the already grown mushrooms....
