It may sound ridiculous but I am quite serious -

to all the four-eyes out there, do glasses influence the trip? Does the trip get less sharp without them? should one wear lenses?

First of all, hi guy's! This is my first post in about 6 months.

I wear glasses and they influence my trip in that I don’t have any open eye visuals, so I don’t wear them when tripping. Not wearing any glasses doesnt influent the sharpnes of the images because the images are produced in your head and not by your eye's.

I prefer to have my contacts in, especially for longer trips.

Are you very aware of them? Have you ever experimented with sharpening your sight with psychedelics without lenses or glasses?

Don't ever feel stupid for wondering; this question is very pertinent. I don't quite understand what you mean by a "sharp" trip, although I find taking off my glasses to be actually more enjoyable visually.

On my first nutmeg trip, I had eaten the nutmeg an hour before going to sleep. Since nutmeg kicks in fully only after ~6 hours (and lasts up to three days... weird stuff), I thought it didn't work... I woke up nutmeg-high and confused, and forgot to put on my glasses. Everything looked much more fuzzy than when I normally don't put my glasses (but I usually NEVER forget my glasses), and it made me very euphoric when I realised the nutmeg had worked finally. So I spent most of the day without my glasses, when I usually can't live without them for five minutes.

I also find that the DXM visuals are more enjoyable without glasses. DXM visuals are made of sensory input that slowly drifts into something else, and not having my glasses made that process much easier. Damn, was that TV static fun to watch.

Finally, my last LSA trip was mostly spent lying on my bed (I should have extracted the LSA from the Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds, it would have spared me the nausea). When I didn't have my glasses on (most of the time), it was easier for me to concentrate on what little visual effects I had (color bleeding, patterns moving, lines blending). Also, not seeing my bedroom ceiling clearly helped me travel mentally and introspect (though not as much as with my eyes closed, but I could look at the pretty effects at the same time).

As for the lenses vs. glasses debate, I definately reccomend glasses over lenses. You can take off or put on glasses quickly, and that's great when you're tripping since you never know when you'll want to lie down or get moving. Glasses also won't dry up on your eyes if you forget them on your face, and they're easier to pick up if you dropped them.

Anyway, I encourage you to try both if you can, and do what you feel more convenient or comfortable, since these are quite important while tripping.

Thanks for the answers :)

Welcome to the forum, significationof?!?

im a four-eyes myself, nearsighted.

i've done it both ways and i always end up just putting my glasses back on. i get visuals either way, but with glasses everything is way clearer for me (especially textural distortions, etc). also with glasses it is the only way i notice some of my favorite visual effects from acid and mushrooms--it is hard to describe but it is sort of like a soft light filter or the "bloom" effect in video games and i can't see this clearly if my glasses are off and everything is fuzzy to begin with.

i also have gone for long periods of months at a time just not wearing glasses, and adjusting to this. it's interesting to try. i really prefer clarity of vision ;) actually the first time i dropped acid it was literally the first time i had worn glasses in probably a month or something and it really added to the trip :D

as for lenses, i just can't get over the feeling of putting contacts on my eyes so i don't wear them.

st.bot.32 a dit:

I'm the same way. If i dont wear my glasses, it's much harder for me to notice the actual trip, since my vision is bad to the point of anything past a foot and a half being practically indistinguishable. If i'm having a bad trip, taking my glasses off kinda brings me back to reality, and helps me realize what's going on, so they're kinda my safety blanket.

ah, i see now. thanks, Paracoculi :)

I usually take my glasses off because I feel more comfortable without the weird thing in my face when I'm tripping. I usually love to cover my face with my hands or massage my face when I'm tripping balls - the glasses are just not made for tripping.
I am mostly tripping in relative darkness and enjoy the brightness of the remaining light sources, like the moonlight or a little led light from a battery charger or something like that. Once on San Pedro I was dancing in the most beautiful lightshow created from two leds from my computer and the led light from the battery charger. Needless to say my pupils were all the way open.

I don't really miss my glasses in these situations, and I don't seem to see much better with them anyways (it's like the view without glasses is a little enhanced, but it's overall distorted).

Contacts for sure. I have visuals with both, but I just enjoy them more with lenses. Can't really explain it.
