Glassblowing

Hello, I will be starting glassblowing training soon. Now I have a couple options, I intend on creating tobacco pipes and waterpipes. Should I start (A) Lampworking or (B) Vases

I am a noobie to all of this,

I don't know what you exactly mean, but if you want! You may make one large waterpipe for me

Awesome! I LOVE glassblowing myself (all jokes aside ) it's a Very difficult skill to perfect but when you make a quality pipe the satisfaction of a job well done is awesome. Generally the #1 mistake is ALWAYS cool air hitting the red hot glass in one way or another and either the glass breaking or cracking.
Like I said, it's difficult but very fun and rewarding, but can be quite hazardous if you aren't careful just have fun with it and go.

EDIT: Remember it's a long practice of trial and error until you learn how much air to blow, where to hold the heat, etc. I've been wondering for awhile of an acetylene/oxygen mix would be too hot to work with Pyrex glass without it exploding.

I guess it doesn't really matter in the beginning? Getting the basics down would be the most important.

One of my local glass blowers gives cources for kids and after a few minutes they are making small things . The other , a lab glas blower , lets people try for themselves . Its not hard , whats hard is getting the proportions right so it looks regular .

Wow! Glassblowing is one of the things i'm certainly goin to try in my life,following a course after workinghours or so.
It seems soo nice to do ,i was already fond of melting plastics and make crazy forms with it a few years ago,mostly when i was "studying" in my room.Smelled terrible though ,and it was quite unhealthy and unsafe :lol:
I never thought of making waterpipes, i just want to create crazy things in craaazy forms&colours :drool: !!!

Anyway, good luck and shitloads of fun with it! Feel free to show us some pictures of the results,even if they are not as "good" as you wanted!

Things like that are made by the very best lab glass blowers . They are all hand made . So are the seperatory funnels and condensers . Buying of ebay is DUMB as you dont know the sort of glass or its thickness . I`ve seen glass ware from india that looked right but it wasnt much thicker than a light bulb .
