Maressa Orzack, game addiction psychologist, conducted extensive research on the drugs that gamers use to stay focused and alert. She found that energy drinks like Red bull are increasingly replaced by ADHD medicine Ritalin. Other drugs are being used as well. "Amfetamine and pre-amphetamines are becoming more popular. They certainly keep you awake for a longer time. But, marijuana is still the most often used drug amongst gamers," Orzack says.
