Hi everybody !

I went to Maastricht last week for a day. I had only one day in town, so I decided to send some mushrooms to France.
I sent 24 g of fresh Hawaiian mushrooms (Copelandia Cyanescens) in a package. I don't know why but post has been slow and I just got the shroom yesterday.... so 12 days after I bought them in the smart shop.
On the box it says : 11/07/2008.
I wonder if they are still ok and can be eaten  They're very black. Don't look very nice (they were white when I sent them.
I heard we can consume fresh shroom until 2 weeks after or even 3 weeks. but in my case they weren't in the fridge until today.
By the way, should I put them in something closed or just like that in fridge without any cover? I opened the box once I received them because there was some condensation in the box, and I thought it was better if I opened it. I hope I did well.

Anyway, what do you think about that? Should we eat them?
As you can see on the pictures, they are really black, but the smell seems fine. I mean, they definetly smell bad, but not like moldy smell (not in my opinion). Just like feet :D

Thanx for your answers... (btw we plan to do the trip on fiday night.)

Eh, I'm not to familiar with any strains other than P. Cubensis, but those don't look to appetizing mate. I would definitely hesitate on eating them.

I wouldn't eat those. Don't eat shrooms that have become slimey.
Soon moldy shrooms will be a thing of the past though, because once fresh mushrooms are forbidden (December 1), all that will be available are shrooms that have already been dried.

Won't dried shrooms be "even more" forbidden, considering they are already banned ?

No, once the ban on fresh mushrooms goes in effect, they're on the same level again. For in fact this is one of their arguments for banning fresh shrooms: "there is no difference between the effects of dried and fresh mushrooms, therefore we should make fresh mushrooms illegal as well."

So you're saying that we will be able to get dried shrooms in shops, if we ask for them ?

No, he's saying that the ban is going to create a black market, and as it's easier for dealers to sell dried mushrooms, than fresh, that is what is going to be around. The reason you have fresh mushrooms being used right now is because they are NOT illegal, so when they are it's easier to just go dry.
