before i just write this:
when you smoke nicotine, it boils, same for canabis, crack, speed, dmt, salvia ...
the problem is:
at what temperature does the molecule burns, and what temperature does the molecule boil.
if it burns before boiling, its done, u cannot smoke it (it wont go in your brain! only byproducts like co2, co, cl2, n2, no, no2, h2o, nh3, hcn...)
what i know:
pcp (phencyclidine, 1-phenyl-cyclohexylpiperidine) freebase boils at 120°C
the hydrochloride salt of pcp boils at 235°C!!!
same for all the amines:
the freebase boils at low temperatures, and the hydrochloride salt boils at higher temperatures.
so one point is: when you smoke psilocibin, is it the freebase ?
same for cocaine.
cocaine is sold as the hydrochloride salt.
to make crack (smokeable cocaine): ammonia reacts with hydrochloride in the cocaine,
nh3 + hcl --> nh4cl
and you get the freebase (the hydrochloride salt of cocaine in unsmokeable, cause it burns before it boils).

YOu cannot use NaOH to make crack from cocaine, cause naoh is a strong base, and strong bases reacts with amides to give carboxilic acid salt and amine:
R-CO-NH2 + NaOH --> R-CO-O-Na + NH3
ammonia is not a strong base, it is a weak base, as sodium bicarbonate (or hydrogenocarbonate (it is the same) or NaHCO3).
to make psilocibin freebase from psilocibin hydrochloride: just add some ammonia, and let it (make it boiling or not) evaporate.
lol dude: you dont eat the psilocibin, you HEAT it!!!
