Hi everyone ,

This is my first post on psychonaut.com!

Well I am about to do "LSD" for the first time in my life , very soon. The only drug I have ever done before is Marijuana , which I am a frequent user. I am not to sure if I am ready to take LSD, I am pretty scared about a bad trip, very nervous about it. But I want to have a psychedelic experience.

How should I prepare for taking LSD, what should I know about it. What has helped you get out of a bad trip.

Let knowledge be your armor.

I did an extensive amount of research before I took LSD for the first time, even read lengthy psychology reports on it.
Anyway I was able to endure a trip alone because I took every precaution and knew what to expect.

MOST important thing to remember is while your on the trip, YOU control your mood (for the most part, your trip will guide you all over the place however). You most try your best to stay positive even if everything appears grim, it's not easy, but if you maintain mental control as much as you can you'll be okay.

Thank you very much , I really appreciate it. I definitely feel like I can control my mood, and if that gets me out of a bad trip then I should all set. Thanks for the links, I am going read them now :)

Honestly, just make sure you have no distractions (no work, parents at home, school, anything). If you can turn off your phone, beeper, seriously like EVERYTHING. Then, I highly recommend practicing a few meditations before the trip. That way you can clear your mind, clean out your thoughts about all of your worries, and just tune in...

That's not what i should do, just let yourself go. Don't control, don't push yourself. Just let everything be! In the end you will go trough everything. The bad trips are not that worse, it made me appreciate life in a much more powerful way :) Set & setting is where it is all about ;)

Indeed, meditating like darkwolfunseen, can help you to tune in and drift away on the thought patterns you think about. It will take you by the hand, and it will show you the secrets of yourself ;)

Unless your planning on a heavy dose, you aren't in for too many worries. Make sure you got some good tunes to play and some weed to smoke. I enjoy standing around playing hackey sack with friends and smoking with some good tunes playing in the back ground.

I don't agree with this, unless you enjoy being terrified out of your mind or depressed a lot. Which is where I would have been if I completely "went with it" on my first trip there. Sure letting go is also a good thing, you shouldn't fight the whole experience, but you shouldn't have to succumb to parts you don't want to either.

Like darkwolfunseen said, make sure that you no commitments or distractions before you partake on a trip. They have a way a becoming the center and focus of your trip, you'll think about them a lot and possibly worry. Also I would limit the amount of people you have be around honestly the best you can. At least those you trust.

For me it really depends on the trip. During an introspective closed-eye journey I don't fight anything.. it's a long, epic, intense dreamscape and I'm merely along for the ride to see where it goes, the analysis comes later.

There have been a few times when I've gotten myself into unpleasant and difficult sections of trips for very stupid reasons. the first lesson psychedelics taught me is that it is very easy to decieve ourselves, so i believe in laughing at yourself and saying 'i'm being silly' or critically saying 'what am i doing??' and then getting up and change the trip rather than just stewing away. i can't think of any guidebook or set of rules I could follow to determine what's appropriate, other than asking myself how genuine and deep my feelings are at the moment, balanced with a desire to challenge myself and explore. don't know if verbalizing those thoughts will make any sense to others, that's just my trip :D

A couple of close friends would be extremely handy, if they're "in the theme", you know  .I guess the ones you smoke weed with will do just fine!
And yes, as others have already said, read up extensively. Peruse erowid. Get familiar with trip reports of first timers. Don't worry, these will not affect the sanctity of your very first time. And, in my opinion, you can't really prepare for it. Not that you shouldn't..well, you'll see

<-??? ???? ??????????! :D

Best of luck, stay safe, go outside and see the world

If its your first time, i'd advice you NOT to listen to my music!
You need some kinda of lifeline to guide you through it I think, not all the time, but having music around would help anchor you to the real world if your newer to it.

Meditate before, clear your mind as someone said. Make sure you are completely free when you do it. Keep some pre-rolled joints.
Try doing it in a beautiful place if possible.

The LSD comedown is the best feeling ever. Maybe if you have a gf you can have sex with her then :)

Definitely download this music. Sometime during the trip as you get comfortable listen to it, you'll love it... it will take you for a ride. Its the best chilled out relaxing music.

1) Entheogenic - Entheogenic
2) Entheogenic - Spontaneous Illumination
3) Shpongle - Are you Shpongled?
4) Hallucinogen - In the Dub

Music is a great tool to guide you trough the trip. But you have to be becareful with the playlist, one wrong song can destroy a lot. When i am going to trip i always try to find new music what i haven't heard before. If i have listen the music to often, it can get pretty annoying well i am tripping.

while tripping, you should take a look at the stars. I did this on my first acid trip, while standing on a balcony(please be careful, lol) somewhere in the mountains in France and I really was there for hours looking to the end of the cosmos. Really amazing.
Mirrors sacred the living daylight out of me at first because my face didn't look like my own face anymore, but I couldn't stop looking and turned out to be really a interesting exp.
Enjoi.

hhaha i was refering to my music...it can be scary.
Esp my newest song.

btw music can sound absurd aswell, you can get another feeling of it than what you usually get.
Pick really peaceful and light music!

another thing, you CANT FLY physically.
SO DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!

oh and the stars are lovely, i did that on my last trip.
Was lying down on the ground, and watching the stars for about 2 hours.

cool, next time im tripping ill listen to your newest song :P

quite honestly, i much prefer so-called 'dark' or 'heavy' music when tripping, experimental, noise, industrial, some metal. i like tribal drumming and some electronica as well

i just like where it takes me.. the sensations, the synaesthesia, the rhythms, the textures and sounds, etc
