Awesome, an Amanita thread...
Where I live in the world, Amanitas grow EVERYWHERE.
A few years ago me and a friend were in the forest and came across a huge patch. We had looked them up before, and hear of their (strange) psychoactive properties, being the naive and full of youth we decided to give a blessing to the forest (through cannabis sacrament and a prayer for kind passage in the spirit realm, as well as their sharing of the mushrooms) and we picked quite a few, using my friends sweater as a 'basket', if you will.
All in all, we had several pounds of the stuff (wet, obviously), I can't recall the exact size, but I remember it being of similar proportions to, let's say 3 basketballs? I hope that makes sense.
We didn't have a scale back then, either, which was a slight problem, regardless we ventured on.
After reading a bit, we heard that the red skins were the most active, and the stems the least, if anyone has ANY really insightful information on the relative potency on the parts of amanitas I'd love to hear it. Plzzz share
Anyways, we peeled off all the tops and even saved a few nice slender stems and 'caps' to dry. We used an oven, after reading the the ibotenic acid converts to the muscimol with heat. It was only set at like 150-200f (I'm really trying to remember here, like I said it was a while ago) and ran it for a while, flipping them so they wouldn't stick and making sure they thoroughly dried.
We ground em up, ate em and drank some OJ with it. Tatasted pretty funky.
The trip was interesting, it wasn't anything really like cubensis, or any other mushrooms. I wasn't seeing anything, as in swirls or patterns but my vision was affected. In a way it was like looking normal but with a slight 'kaleadeiscope hue'. My stomach ended up getting upset and my head was giving me some discomfort, same with my friend, so we just spent the rest of the trip listening to ambiance music in my room relaxing. It wasn't a trip per se, but it sure was an experience.
I'm contemplating maybe a 2nd go around this year when the Amanitas come in -- any thoughts? I've heard that they are miserable to most, but I've also heard the opposite ; that they can be profound ethnogens.
I have a vaporizer and have also heard about vaporizing amanita, any thoughts on that?
