DXM + cigarettes

on this site they warn that cigarette smoke may be considered a MAO inhibitor.

is this true or bullshit?

woow i never heard that before man but i dont think its true because alot of people on meds and stuff smoke but i'm not an expert or anything, i'm just me

Tobacco smoke seems to contain some amounts of beta-carbolines that act as reversible MAO-inhibitors. This link provides some information about the subject:

So logically, excessive amounts of tobacco may provide enough MAO-inhibition to cause conflicts with other substances that shouldn't be mixed with MAOis. But what kind of amounts are actually required, is another question.

well on many occsions on tripping on DXM i've smoked ciggerates and nothing happened. :wink:

The MAOI effects from Nicotine are to minute to cuase any serious contradictions with DXM.

In my long experience with DXM I have never run into problems with combinding these two dugs.
