I dont speak english but ready to play !!!
(maths are not a country langage for what i know about it )

"give me a problem "

i resolve (try for sure) it .

What nationality are you, I can translate for you... is this francais?

Je veux juste parler des mathématiques. La beauté. Les moyens simples de résoudre les choses en utilisant des nombres. la façon dont nous pouvons voir les choses dans un autre domaine.

I just want to talk about mathematics. The beauty. The simple ways to solve things using numbers. the way we can look at things in another realm.

Hah.
Yes that's French!

I hate fucking math, and i really suck at it too.
Maybe those two facts have something todo with each other :P

But this one time, our smart ass professor had this puzzle for us.
(He often had these rediculous math riddles.)

It was about a mortar.
If it was fired at an 40 or 50 degree angle, with such and such speed,
with a constant blowing wind of so many km.p.u from a given direction. and,
yes, listen to this:
the MARS gravity, where would it land?

I mean c'mooooooooon.
Wtf is that for a question?

It was solved though, with some data tables from n.a.s.a.
Not by me obviously.

Anyone think this kind of nonsense is easy to solve :| ?

sure....its just your basic plotting of a parabola on a cartesian grid.....the other variables are easily accounted for with standard math.

That being said; When I was at University, I discovered that most math teachers are so right-brained that they can't properly explain what is going on in an equation, in practical, understandable terms.

I had several different algebra teachers, the majority of them foriegn, with a not-so-good command of the English language.

They could tell you what to do for your homework just fine.....they could speak basic English just fine, but they couldn't explain what an abstract problem represents OR what is going on DURING THE SOLVING OF THE PROBLEM. They stress repetitiveness, over and again....a couple of times, my girlfriend was solving problems in ways in which HE didn't understand (she is dyslexic and extremely right-brained....an art major she was) yet he admitted 'were right'......YOU do THAT math. No, she couldn't explain it either.

I finally found someone who actually spoke English and she taught me fast.

I'm sooooo not impressed with the way you are taught math at University.
:P

math can be facinating, but as said above, i too suck at it, and i hate it, and am pretty sure they are for the same reasons.

Sure? wtf...

Damn, that's hylarious.
And i agree with the level a lot of uni's teach at, it plain sucks.
It's not just math.

Most stuff's boring, and not even worth writing down.
It's because most teachers themselves are clueless, if you ask me.

A wise man once said:
"If you can't explain it simply, you don''t know it well enough."

But no man, i can't do it.
Not sure what it is, i am a well seasoned programmer who works with several programming languages,
and yet even the smallest math problems can't be solved by my.
Let me calculate a person's salary three times, they get three times a different salary :$

I once reverse engineered a basic encoding system with a pencil and paper though :D

Great maths'lover and more french speaker !
Woot i'm not meet you before ." better late than never "
(english level is one of worriest you've never read , i know ^^)

Better laten then never, yes.
Also, i've seen and heard people speak english worse then that.
This, we can understand :P

yes the statement is understandible.. its when the replies turn into mindless/meaningless random words when your english is bad. yours is fine :)

To answer the question: I don't. But in High School I was confident enough to drop acid before the final math exam. Not recommended, but I did pass.

Lol not applicable dont try it (for you !)
But alls exams (plants biology -include biochemicals an psysiology of plants) passed and mentioned succèsfull , in middle of time off addition to (it's ban) Big and with worriest reputation Stimulant .
(methyl substitued ring in radical place amphetamine to --try-- name it but not directly)
(All) Addicts are not all stupids and unable to have succesfully scientifics validations in university cycle !

I'm ridiculous in english ><
give me some numbers plz and a problematic as possible too

Well, I am in quantum mechanics - so dennis, that actually sounds fun, I WISH I could still have problems like that.

My math class now is about finding areas between 3 dimensional planes (planes able to rotate and skew in x, y, z). Finding areas of circles in different "dimensions" that actually equate to areas of squares in cartesian.

There are many geometries we rarely use, spherical, cylindrical, hyperbolic, parabolic, etc... why did we choose cartesian? Because we are rectangular thinkers - we like maximum stackable area. We like squares and perpendicular lines, rather than curving "biological" lines, like spheres and parabolas. When people create structures that resemble natural functions and non-linear functions, they are amazing! They are works of art... no they just aren't the simplest things.

I think math is what the universe really is. Simply an equation using an operator or a type of fractal expression, one we cannot understand. Matter, mass, energy - all simply implications of an operator acting upon a function dependant on space and time. It's wonderful!

LoL you've got to be kidding?

no but to me it's not a problem. It was never fun either.
I just can't be bothered.

There are people who can do math better then me,
i can write computer code better then them.

I've chosen my path. The one of computer nerd,
and left math for the math nerds.

However, i sometimes do find it interesting though.

it's kinda fun if u find that one and only solution fo a problem,
though, when the math-problems are getting too difficult, i say "fuck maths" :)$

edit; i had only one class of maths in university, all about logarithm and matrices, so rather basic maths
the higher (and i mean really higher) mathematics is imo a little crazy :p mathematic "inventions" are "discovered" at least 100 years before they are used in physics. (btw, are mathematics actually an invention or a discorvery?)

Mathematics are a discovery of a language we can use to quantitatively analyze systems in nature.

We didn't invent that it works, though we invented the symbols.

I think looking at taylor series of sines and cosines and their ability to represent 'e' is amazing.

ok in 3d why the hell is Z the new Y ?
Y is the new Z? and X is something else.. jetting out at you??

Ok math grades are C C C like carbon bonds yet i keep taking them.. CALC III+

yo you have to check this out!!

or this is also quite amazing!!

true mathematicians do not recognize fractals as true mathematics.

Gtcheman, its annoying ain't it. They do that because they make (for the majority of math) x and y a function of Z. This way you can visualize it better, however, why the fuck don't they keep it a function of y I don't know. just one of those things that happened and stuck.

I still draw most of my homework with z going "in and out" of the paper.

fuck off all of you who think they are true mathematicians then LOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

u fucking muppets!!!!!!!! LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL
