difference? pf-tek and growkit?

hi folks.
anyone can tell me if there is a difference of the size and the number of mushrooms appearing when using a growkit? I ve seen many pictures of people who grow shrooms with PF TEK, but their shrooms are always large with big stems. mine are smaller (cubensis) into the kit. where is the difference?

mushrooms don't need much light to grow just for the growing direction and so the mycelium knows its above ground and so it can start pinning. how much light did you use?

growkits are usally small casings and i have seen far better flushes from casings than from PF-Cakes also the first Flush is usally smaller than the later flushes

what strain is the growkit?

hmm ... i use normal daylight atm. Its the cubensis kit from azarius...
Ok but i want to have small fruits, i dont like the big ones. So what can i do? Only using boxes like the box i had? or is there another possibility to get smaller ones and a large amount of shrooms? But i do not want to buy always a kit /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif too expensive... I want to use spore syringes or sporeprints.

you could pick the mushrooms when there about 8 cm or so then there might come in a larger nummer but the total weight of the mushrooms always stays the same.

you also could try the Starters growkit (for the PF-tek) and make you own pf-cake's. the hard part of PF-cake is that you got to keep the humidity very high when its fruiting, with casing like you're growkit the toplayer or casing layer whats it called keeps the humidity high so its alot easyer.

or you could make Rye grain casings (like the grow kit you got(i think)) (pressure cooker needed) the Pressure cooker is about the most expensive tool you need but when you got all the tool like the cooker and stuff.... you're set and can grow casing cheap (5-10 euro for a large casing) maybe even less

Hi,
I've just harvested only 4 shrooms last night from my PF-cake (what's PF stand for?). I had three cakes going - 2 in one filter bag and one in the other. the one on its own didn't fruit - actually i had noticed a small patch of jet black that looked like bacteria or sth ( is this right?).
Anyway, after harvesting I have also seen the blackness on this cake too - i am now worried that this has been infected, but I've hardly had any shrooms through yet. What should i do?

Lastly, when removing the cake from the jars, it is in a cylinder shape, which is a bit awkward to work with in the box as it keeps rolling around - i was wondering whether you're supposed to flatten it out or sth.
