Dear fellow psychonauts!

I don't know if it is because of an illness (flu) or a psychosomatic reaction towards stress, but I am recently reacting sensitively towards food. My stomach is getting heavy and I sometimes have to vomit. Anyway, I thought about decreasing the intake of food which is acidic (dunno if one can say so in english), as citrus fruits. Do you have any further ideas for an acid-low diet resp. a diet that is good and caring for the stomach? Thank you,

yours, restin.

lots of brown things.
brown bread, brown pasta, brown rice.
tomatoes can cause trouble to the stomache too

avoid all fats till you feel better. fats can only be processed as fast as you produce bile, therefor any food containing fats must remain in the stomach longer - only passing into the ileum slowly as bile is produced

avoid milk products. they are barely edible as it is, but the alkalinity will only encourage your stomach to produce more acid. also see fat..
soya milk should be ok if you eat cereals. apple juice sweetened soya milk is best IMO. soya desserts can settle the stomach but that may be the gelling agents (gums)

eat ginger. its very good at settling the stomach. the "spice" doesnt translate to gastric burn. fresh, dried or candied it all works. peppermint has a similar effect.

avoid fat and eat ginger

ok, thanks. That will be a ginger diet with brown rice  so bad I love milk and tomatoes but I guess I will have to take this sacrifice. Thank you.

Sorry for bumping.

Hint to help you further:
If you don't "feel" like eating anything, then don't eat! It can make you feel worse.

To be of any help you would have to say your age , exactly what and how much you eat , when you eat , what other medical problems / treatments you have and talk about any psychelogical / emotional problems / events that are happening to you .

How many languages do you speak Restin ?

I'm sorry. ^_^;

I'm 18 years of age, I eat small portions/meals every day. I make sure to use different kinds of food (for example, meat, a fruit (or fruits), and grains), I eat when I feel hungry (duh :P).
Apperantly, I have depression/Type 2 bi-polar disorder, borderline personality disorder, some anxiety, and have ADD.
My problems include social neglect, constant criticism, and failed relationships of any kind (friend/date/boyfriend).
A recent event that happened to me is my fiance cheating on me behind my back, and fucking the same girl he cheated me on.

Was that directed towards myself or the topic starter? The YouTube video, I mean.

I dunno whom he meant, Miminari

I speak hmmm...does swiss german count as a language? no, so I talk 3 languages perfect/very good (German,Russian,English), 1 quite good (French) and quite bad italian.

Mhm I am just suffering from stress (A LOT of work to do but now it is better) and some problems coming from the "personal level". I regularly suffer from depressions but I am better now (no more self mutilation...) but I don't think that talking about my personal problems is very interesting. I have never been to a psychiatrist. I am pretty young, I eat 3 times a day but I have no real possibility to eat good lunch (no time for it). I weight ca 63 kilo and it seems to be my "natural" weight as it is pretty constant. Ah yeah and I am quitting tobaccy but it is quite hard, I often have drawbacks (sounds like a junkie ;)) and bad mood when I "need it". Uh. Not so interesting. But my stomach got better, there is a lot of pressure relieved now. And I don't like ginger :?

stress has a lot to answer for. there is no simple cure for that im afraid. it feeds itself

do you like peppermint? CaduceusMercurius may have a few suggestions, its more his speciality. Kava is an excellent anxiolitic if you can get it

I may not be a doctor, restin, but I can tell it COULD be a psychosomatic cause.
Maybe, if you want to, could pay a visit to see a doctor of some sort?

Sorry people i didnt adress that to Restin so you would all know i was talking to him .

Restin it sounds psychelogical to me . I dont realy worry if i dont eat for a day or very little for a few weeks . I start to do something about it when i loose more than 2 or 3 kilos or feel realy weak .

Welcome to the forum Miminari .

Also a warm welcome from me, Miminari.

Yes, I strongly believe it to be psychosomatic/psychological. I do like peppermint though  I just don't know what a doctor could tell me, he could say "well it is probably stress" and give me some pills but why should pills work as long as I have a certain burden? I think that there will be some cure when the stress is over (bout half a year  ). Also a psychiatrists, I don't want to take antidepressiva or so, I still want to do art and not hang around stupidly. Anyway.
Drugie a dit:
Kava is an excellent anxiolitic if you can get it
It is legal, isn't it? I will watch out for it, maybe a herb-store?
GOD: yeah, I do not highly worry, I mean, it will be over. I started this thread because I had to/felt like vomit(ing) when I ate some stuff so I wanted some advice. Thank you all for it.

Yes, restin, I see your point about the pills, and I kinda thought you didn't want them.
I guess you can find someone to confide in? You know, like a psychologist. Minus the pill-pushing. :P

It might be a food allergy, although the stress may be the largest contributor. My advice for the diet is eat more vegetables and less or no dairy, meat, and wheat. I don't know whether you usually cook things yourself, but if you are eating out at least one of those three ingredients is generally in every meal. Dairy and wheat are not really traditional human food sources at all, and although we are quite adaptable, pilling these things in to your body 3 times daily can irritate your mucus membranes (mouth, esophagus, stomach, intestines) which causes more work for your liver and other systems.

Kicking cigarettes is tough, and your liver should have enough backlog of stuff to deal with from that.

Also like douglas said, watch the fats, but make sure you still eat the good fats (olive oil, avacado, fish, nuts,) especially if you're young. You need a healthy brain to be a psychonaut :o

Good luck!

Its not a food alergy . Did you always have it ? Did you eat something new and then when you got ill stoped eating it and you got better ?

Dairy foods and wheat are some of the first foods humans ate . Its true that most people cant digest both / either of them properly . ( In german the word is "Unvertraeglichkeit" ) .

I also don't think that it is a food allergy although I had 2 energy drinks that night it started (never, never, never, never, never, never again!). But that is not the main reason.
My advice for the diet is eat more vegetables and less or no dairy, meat, and wheat.
Mhm I like dairy so it will be tough. It is really hard to change the food behaviour so fast. Wheat will be also difficult. Whole grain is not good either?

Good luck!
Thanks ;) Yes, I now look at the fats.

I really love cooking myself but it is time consuming and expensive. If you wanna cook some really good you may invest up to 4 hours and 50 dollars.
I guess you can find someone to confide in? You know, like a psychologist. Minus the pill-pushing. Razz
I will think about it. But you know, in theory I can analyze myself quite good. But in practice it is something different, if you know what I mean. For example, if you got some big work, you theoretically know: planning goes first. But practically....I think you know what I mean  The same goes with women, work, hobbies etc. etc.

It is by the way interesting, how industrial food works. I mean, if you make stuff yourself, it all tastes SO different from anything you buy. For example, I made lychee icecream (mhmmmm tasty) and it was so different from any industrial lychee you ever ate. It is a general observation, in nearly every aspect of food. Modern food is extremely salty and strong in taste, making own yoghourt is SO tasteless, in comparison to industrial. I really could imagine that our sense of taste has changes massively in comparison to early history.
