Most of the ski resorts anywhere are going to be pretty expensive. Our personal favorite, which is not too high, is the Duran go Mountain Resort. Great skiing, not too crowded and reasonably priced Steamboat Springs holds the reputation as the best family resort. It's got varying terrain, an awesome ski school, great terrain for the kids, and a cool little ski village nestled in the back mountains of Colorado. Breckenridge is also a great family resort with a tremendous reputation. It has mostly intermediate terrain and is still a huge mountain. Families are the chief attendees of Beck. I would definitely recommend either of these places. Steamboat Springs is more oriented towards the beginner. If you want to get out and do some shredding while the kids are in ski school though, I would go with Beck. Courmayeur Ski Resort
