could someone identify these babys?

ok. i've tripped i guess about 8 to 10 times and have always enjoyed myself. i've had one bad trip, and yet still managed to have great fun. i love mushrooms. i love how they make me feel (like a 5 year old) and that i can talk to trees and rocks and watch tv on a graffitti wall for hours.

a friend of my boyfriend gave us a spice bottle with a couple of little dried shrooms inside. now, i don't usually bother about checking what kind of shrooms i take because i usually get them from someone that i know knows what they're doing. but at the mo, i'm a bit hesitant. i'm sure they're psychidelic, the friend says he trusts his source. but i'm still skeptical.

they're so dried out i can't really tell. they're small, about 6-7 cm in length, tiny caps, brown/tan, no bluing (but that's only for fresh shrooms right?) and i can't see the gills. i don't even know how much potency these things have. i've no idea how long they've been dried out, nor any idea how long they'll last in a spice bottle.

can anyone identify these little guys and give me the thumbs up to go visit my inner child once more?

It is not posible to identify them from a foto and to identify them for sure with no knowledge about when and where they were picked , who picked them and why , or what that person thought that they are is imposible , unless you can get spores off them and either identify them microscopicaly or grow new mushrooms from the spores . Unless you can get more information about them it would be unwise to eat them .

They do not look like any form of European Psilocybe mushrooms . That means that they would have to be cultivated mushrooms or imported mushrooms . The only Psilocybe mushroom that comes in question because of the colour of the gills , the colour of the stems , the colour of the caps and the thickness of the bigger stems are Psilocybe Cubensis . BUT........ i see no veil or remnants of a veil and there is no blueing so i can not say definatly that they are P.Cubensis . If they are P.Cubensis they are very old . and there is not enough of them to give you a trip . = Get much more information or throw them away .

They could also be Pseudo Psilocybe Hofmannii..................

let's do research right, and get as many POVS as possible.

and i have attempted to identify them online, but shite man, there is no easy way to do this. i'm not a mushroom expert, nor do i care much about the science behind it. i focus on the trip, on how i feel, cause there's nothing else more important than that.

and i assume that whoever 'picked' them actually grew them at home or got it from someone else. i was excited when i saw them but then realized, i don't know what the fuck they are or what's in them, thanks alot stupid boyfriend for not asking your friend more questions. if i die eating this babies i'm gonna kill you.

Thanks for saying thanks about my opinion . I think it very good that you are trying to identify them properly and not just eating unidentified mushrooms like some pseudo mushroom experts have done here and poisoned themselves .

I looked at several books with pictures and descriptions of most , if not all , known Psilocybe mushrooms and the only ones that i think came into question were P.Cubensis . If you can get acess to "Psilocybin mushrooms of the world" by Paul Stamets , who is one of the leading Psilocybe mushroom experts of the world , it might help you to get a good idea of wich mushroom you have . It is available in German as "Psilocybinpilze der welt" from AT Verlag and has the book number ISBN 3-85502-607-6 . You might be able to find it in a good library . Anyway i hope you have a good time on your search and would be very interested to know what happens .

They definitely look like dried Cubensis to me.
But then again, some mushroom species can look very similar.
Having them dry only complicates the identification.
I would suggest you do a bit of research into mushroom identification, and if you are confident enough that they are in fact Cubensis or another Psilocybe, then ingest them.
If you have any doubt, do as god said and throw them away, or at least keep them until you are absolutely sure.

i believe in saying thank you when someone else offers their time and energy to answer a question that most probably can never be answered. so again, thank you God, and thank you Buffachino. i will try to find the book you recommended God, most likely i'll have to order it online. I'll do more research on these little guys. I have a feeling though, because i'm not one to accidentally posion myself, that i'm just going to throw 'em away. or rather, tell my boyfriend to throw them away (they are, after all, his birthday present). shame. i would have really liked to trip.

Just ask your boyfriend to contact the person he got them from and ask what they are and where they are from. If he trusts the person he got them from with YOUR LIFE, I guess it might be legit. I don't think anyone would ever sell bad shrooms on purpose (hope I'm not wrong on this one). It's very hard to determine shrooms if you have no mycological knowledge, so as long as they are illegal in your country consumption is pretty much based on TRUST.

One of the reasons that i said P.Cubensis is because of the look of and the thickness of the bigger stems . I dont know any other Psilocybe mushroom that contains enough Psilocybin to give you a sensible trip in eatable doses that grows in Europe . Now because you say that they are cultivated mushrooms the probability of them being P.Cubensis is much higger , because no one cultivates and sells / gives people poisonous mushrooms deliberately , and there are not very many types of spores available to growers to grow . Of the generaly available spores the only one that fits is P.Cubensis .

These are cubensis, I would say. The do not look really strong; there is some blueing in places, but very little. Blueing does depend a lot on strain though, I think. No idea how much this is, but to notice effects you would need 0.5-1 g per person, and for a serious trip it would be at least 1.5-2g (or more).

JJJ, don't be so sure of that. i just need 4 medium shrooms to trip my balls off, and one medium shroom, so things start to get funny. it depends on the tolerance. don't give that advice to anyone, because if one has really low tolerance, like myself, he/she will find it the hard way, and it is quite a shock. that's why people kill them selves while tripping, a dosage too big for a first time and don't know what to expect...please advise people to start slow and build their way. always start with ridiculous dosages, like one small shroom.

yeah i've asked my bf to ask his pal to ask his guy. GEEZ that's one heck of a sentence. anyway, they don't look like they could give much of a trip for two people. shit man. i usually eat like, i dunno, 8-10 medium sized shrooms for a good trip, with full visuals and body high. so these little things make me think i'm gonna just feel a lil bit more 'happy' than usual but that's it. i dunno. i guess i'll just let my bf eat em and sittrip him. bah. i am always envious when i sittrip. i'm really greedy with shrooms. in the way that i always want to trip too! i want to share in the fun! no fair!

They definitely look like psilocybe (the typical columbian from a growbox, I think).
They are pretty small however.

I don't think you will have a good trip from this small amount, if you split it for two
people you won't feel much at all.
However, you say that you usually take 8 to 10 medium sized shrooms for a nice
trip - better get yourself a scale and weigh what you ingest in the future,
because the size of mushrooms can vary enormously! If a growbox is treated
well there might be mushrooms that weigh 50 grams or more alone - these
will then be 4 to 5g dried per piece.
If you eat eight or ten of these, well, it won't be a fun trip with a little giggling
and a little visions.
From my growboxes the columbians usually are so big that 6 of them equal 5g
or 6g well dried. This is then not a giggling feel good trip anymore, it is
serious deep-diving!
