I've been smoking daily these vacations and wanted to stop a bit just to be able to relapse :)

so how much time do you abstain before enjoying that extra sweet joint? there's almost an unwritten rule of 1 week (perhaps because of that McKenna quote?) but from my experience it takes a lot less for the body/mind to get really stoned again... I mean, if you've been doing it daily just abstaining for a day is enough to feel the difference.

So... I'm taking a couple of days off and I'm curious about your break times...

Well every weekend I abstain from smoking. Sound weird, I know, but I work and I'm at my dads for the weekend. I usually just work on the weekends, and enjoy my Marijuana during the week when I skateboard :D. But when I want to take a break I shoot for 2 weeks at least, that way I can have the full effects of Marijuana again. I think it would take months to get back to baseline, but 2 weeks is more than enough for me.

PEACE & LOVE

i sometimes go 3-4 weeks. i just dont care if i havnt got any and enjoy it a lot more if i have a break

Hmmm...

I know breaks of a week or more are sure ways of getting a really psychedelic experience out of the good ol' herb... but I'm thinking about those times when you smoke and although feeling good you can just feel that the magic is not as good as it could be... hence my desire to tone it down a bit.

Maybe I feel this way because lately I've been smoking a lot socially and twice and even three times a day... I think I just miss enjoying the high all by myself in all its layers and mystique... in fact, now that I put my mind into it I can see that I've abandoned my usual ritualistic approach I had when I was attending university for a more carefree and casual toking at random times, in contrast to my habit of doing it almost always at night... it's like I've managed to make it mundane...

hehe this thread made me realize stuff. Hell, I think if I just set my mind accordingly and turn off the cell phone and lock the door I can pull a decent cannatrip in my room :)

How do you call it when you feel like your awareness is heightened and you haven't consumed anything but you quite don't feel sober? It happens when you are alone by some time and everything is quiet... also I once felt it after reading something that described similar stuff, I don't remember much but it was something like a mental exercise you do when walking, like you think about the motion your legs do and how you take each step and so and so, you analyze the swinging, the ups and downs, and you try to get more specific to a point you're analyzing that when a foot touches the floor the other is leaving it, etc, there comes a point where every action you take has so much things going on you start to feel it, you feel in THE NOW.............. anyway I feel like that so I'm going to my backyard to see the moon

Every time when i stoped it tooks me about 6 weeks to get back to "normal".

The question is, what you expect from a change.

If its about your mental perception and reaction, then it's maybe a question about the processing of information.

A week with some deep-thought-time and/or meditation should be enough. And with the first hit after that, get the proper input and amount of information.

I think recovery time has a lot to do with how much a person has been smoking and also the quality of what they have been smoking .

I also believe that this is true. One time i stopped for 2 weeks, and when i smoked again some cannabis. I still not had the full experience. But i also have been quited for a month or two. And well, this worked fine for me! :D

i get the most out of good grass when ive had a break and an physically exhausted, after working hard or walking 20 miles. then i get incredibly high off the smallest amount- almost tripping on a single skinner. i think all "resistance" breaks down and i almost cant handle more than one joint

I once had a break for 8 months after a year (or more, don't remember) of daily use. Well, the effect I got from the first joint I smoked after such a long period of abstinence was really worth the waiting :)

Now I need another break. I got back yesterday from 3 days of camping in the woods with a friend and his girlfriend and we each smoked 5 grams of white widow. We actually made a +100km detour to holland to get some more grass

ON FOOT ?????

LOL no with an opel corsa

If you want to come close to a bit of a 'psychedelic experience' you may want to consider abstaining for at least a week
But in my experience it doesn't take a long time before you can get really stoned again, 3-4 days and then when you smoke again slowly dose up until you feel that great high
The reason I point out this last is because in my experience you sometimes smoke way too much, you gotta be able to keep up or you'll just end up really stoned and a little confused
Or maybe I'm just very sensitive I don't know, but IMO smoking too much can be a mistake and the right dose has the most potential
It's very personal though I suppose

Yeah, definitely, after my breaks I've forgotten about tolerance and I smoke the same I've been doing and then I realize "damn I smoked too much." And I think not just the break time matters but what you do with it, I mean, if you were to stop just for a single day but that day you go hiking, or something out of the ordinary, something that takes you out of routine, and spend the day on an interesting setting reflecting a bit... I think doing it the day after will get you higher despite the short break.
