Taste is my top criteria, followed closely by potency, then yield.

I had a lovely strain last year that smelled like green tea and was quite yellowish. i don't know the name of it. it wasn't the most potent weed I've ever had but still quite decent, likewise very tasty

blueberry, it gave me one taste going down, and another when i had exhaled, it really was fruity, smooth to toke and left a nice smell in the air.

Dear, O Dear, O Dear!

Some of the best tasting I've come across include-

C99 - Smelt like Tropical Fruits and Skunk with a very nice high.
Super Skunk - Smelt like PURE SKUNK with a very nice stone/high balance.
AK - Smelt like Afghan Kush with lovely skunk hint, Usually makes me so high I forget what Im doing
Afghani Kush - The Master of Skunk Smells / Tastes in my opinion, A super stone too. I love Mazar Afghan hash made by Madhosh but I havent seen it in ages.
Mazar - Very nice stone with a beautifull turkish delight / floral smell / taste
BubbleBerry - Smelt like bubblegum with a very lovely coconut taste and a somewhat of an aphrodisiac effect.
Big Bud - Smelt Very Skunky and made me paranoid for the one and only time..
Blueberry - I've seen Skunky to Pure Blueberry fruit tasting pheno's of this with a medium to high stone
White Widow - Potent Skunk smell with an intense high, usually.
Jack Herrer - Potent Skunk smell with Huge THC glands usually and a lovely high.
Blue Cheese - Very Potent Skunk smell, Extremely nice intense but sedative high
Durban Poison X Thai - Smelt like iced gems, Was so heavy it was enough to make you want to stop smoking weed half way thru a joint Thai strains..
Shiva - A light smoke, quite fruity.
Kali Mist - Very nice sativa solventy taste with a nice heady high
Armageddon Skunk - Quite an odd taste, Close to afghan and quite a heady some what trippy high
Opium - Very fruity, Medium stone.
White Berry - Very fruity, Medium stone.
Pot of Gold - Skunky/Fruity, Medium Stone.
G13 X Hashplant (Cured for 2 1/2 Months) - Very Hashy tasting, with a heavy stone.
G13XWWXNL - Very skunky, Very trippy. It induced coloured hues in my vision.
Agent Orange - Quite a nice orange tasting bud, mostly sativa I think.
Ice - A nice Crystal coverd bit of bud, cant remember the taste so well tho
MP5K - Very nice afghan tasting weed with a nice stone

Hardest Hitting, I would say were the AK, Afghan, Big Bud, White Widow, Blue Cheese, G13's and the Durban X Thai was just unreal in terms of heavy

The best weed I ever got was from growers, One of my closest friends does Organic Hydro another person I know does Coco/Soil they both produce some very good weed. Second to that was froma friend who had a letter off a pain management doctor stating he should have cannabis to manage his pain. Very good weed he used to get, Medi grade.

These are just a few I can think of straight off the top of my head this morning I'll add more as we progress

spice, you say its primarily a taste thing with you, have you ever noticed outdoor grown bud seems to have a more pronounced aroma/taste than the same grown indoors/greenhouse?
i cant help but think of flowers grown in a greenhouse dont have as strong a smell as field grown ones
the stoning is more high and trippy too ive felt from outdoor grows..
ive sometimes found hydro crops to be a bit bland in flavour, compared to soil as well.
maybe im comparing how well theyve been grown rather than where theyve been grown?

By far Super Silver Haze, the smell was like a fruitbasket, many weed smells like fruit, but when you taste it the fruit flavour is mostly mild, but this weed's taste was pure full bodied fruity taste.
Although, I've smoked Super Silver Haze before, and it didn't taste this good before, so the way it's being grown is actually crucial for the taste.

Neville's Haze and Blueberry Haze are also very good and fruity, and Shiva for it's very sweet taste, and the Snowwhite from Nirvana seeds is also pretty fruity.

Psychodelicia is also great, not for the taste, but more for the paralizing effect, and ofcoarse SantaMaria, this weed has a more then mild psychedelic effect, and a pretty good taste along with it, this must be one of my alltime favorites, for the effect that is.

personally, i like juicy fruit, purple kush has an awesome strong taste.. which i also love... but id have to say that my altime favourite is mango. if you ever get a chance, these 3 are definatly worth trying

Yes, I think that generally, outdoor is better, IF it is done well....

Way back when, there were some guys growing the old school staples, skunk #1, Hindu kush, and a couple others, they were hydro growers, and their stuff was real good, but it wasn't nearly as good as the genetics were capable of. I grew some of their hybrids outside, a sk#1 X Hindu Kush which was really good, and a Black Domina X Hindu Kush.....those plants were not babied like the hydroponic plants that made them, and they were stressed a bit by the intensity of the summer, but the potency was a lot better. That weed was unreal.

I'm liking the sounds of C99 and some of its hybrids.....there's a C99 x Deep Chunk that is interesting.....Also, the AK47 and its hybrids, and maybe a thai strain or two......

For me, I really enjoy White Widow or KB. It's pricey, but it will get you very high.

I'd definitely say there are many. Purple strains are over-rated in my opinion.
I absolutely love Super Silver Haze. Not only the taste but the high as well im more into indika strains that are sour
and have more of a skunky sour taste with an instantaneous high to them also if it floats your way try whiteshark,
shoreline mango, G-13, and definitly bubblegum kush.

- good outdoor weed; seems to always taste unique, and much sweeter than the indoor variant (probably because of other drying methods, or maybe just cause hydro ruins the taste, as like with tomatoes)

all strains that purpled tasted very good in my opinion. californian orange bud got a special place in my hall of fame in that case

reminded me a lot of, what, rosemary? something like that, some herb, but sweeter.

LUI...the tastiest strain ever! great yields too, real nice single cola strain.
I think a LOT of the potential for good tasting weed is lost in the (lack of) curing. People tend to forget this crucial stage that really enhances the smoke and taste of weed.

I forget the strain, it was a long time ago since I smoked it--
but it tasted like bubblegum.
The high was pretty heavy, but slightly energetic. Best for social stuff, not meditation.
I might post back if I can remember the exact name.
