All Hollywood attention set aside. 2012 has far too many things coinciding with it for it to be just another "doomsday hoax." It may not be a meteor, it may not be natural disasters, it may not be nukes. But I for one do believe things are changing at an exponential rate. so even if you are not one for ambiguous Nostradamus visions you can look at the direction our world is taking, and it doesn't take a genius to see that we are coming to a pinnacle, technologically, scientifically, spiritually, economically.

So my question for all of you is where do you plan on being when shit hits the fan, whatever you think the shit may be. collapse of the dollar, military state government, Yellowstone popping the top, world war 3 breaking out.

I and a few like minded friends have been talking about moving to Peru hopefully next year some time. With the idea of making the return to nature, and finding other like minded souls. Machu Picchu will be a mecca for survivalists and followers of the prophecies.

so again, where do you plan to be? what do you plan on doing?

I've had this talk with friends before and I feel that nothing is really going to happen on 2012. Yes there are tons of things saying SOMETHING will happen but I don't believe much of it. The most creditable thing I see is the Myans. From the research I have done, there is a lot of facts showing they believed in extraterrestrials and that the "Gods" would return on 2012 for them. Well they vanished way before then, but I personally believe if ANYTHING happens then we will finally meet "aliens" that day. But most likely nothing will happen and I'll be sitting in my dorm watching the TV while people are worried about nothing.

I can't say where I'll be or what I'll do when the shit hits the fan, because no one knows where exactly the first major hit will be and what its effects will be. So me, I'm just going to continue living my life the way I do now.

I'm sure I'll be out in the bush somewhere

Hm, I don't think I would want to be in the company of "survivalists and followers of prophecies". I'd rather be amongst progressive psychonauts, psychologists and activists who believe we can still turn things around. In 2012 I'll be sitting behind my computer, writing and translating books on psychedelics and transpersonal psychology, or perhaps conducting workshops and ceremonies. It's not too late for anything. There will certainly be disasters, but none will wipe out the entire human race or the information it has gathered so far.

"One of the most revolutionary concepts to grow out of our clinical experience is the growing recognition that the innermost core of man's nature, the deepest layers of his personality, the base of his 'animal nature', is positive in nature - is basically socialized, forward-moving, rational and realistic. We do not need to ask who will socialize him, for one of his own deepest needs is for affiliation and communication with others. He is realistically able to control himself, and he is incorrigibly socialized in his desires. There is no beast in man. There is only man in man." (from: "On Becoming a Person" by Carl R. Rogers, 1961)

"Humanistic psychology is not just a new brand of psychology, to be set side by side on the shelves with all the old brands. It is a whole different way of looking at psychological science. It is a way of doing science which includes love, involvement and spontaneity, instead of systematically excluding them. And the object of this science is not the prediction and control of people's behavior, but the liberation of people from the bonds of neurotic control, whether this comes from outside (in the structures of our society) or from inside." (from: "Ordinary Ecstasy - Humanistic Psychology in Action" door John Rowan, 1976)

You do know that this belief is mainly coming from the US and the new-age, right ?

2012 will be exactly like Y2K. Massive expectations, massive disappointment.

Some new age gurus are already talking about 2015, 2030 or other future dates.

I mean, Haiti was a pretty massive disaster, the tsunami too. And it was forgotten very quickly, like people talking about 2012 WANT more. IMHO, all this "doomsday" culture isn't very healthy.

I don't think this topic is about the year 2012, but about "when shit hits the fan" on a more or less global scale.

thanks for the replies fellow psychonauts.

I am not taking a fatalistic outlook. I don't think it will be the end all be all. I hope that it is a day just like any other.
I feel that the changes that may or may not take place will be less of an event and more of a process. the Mayans spoke of cycles and grand cycles. on a macro scale it will take time for transitions to manifest here on earth. so i believe that december 21st 2012 will come and go and there will be those that say "well what do you know, nothing happened, knew it all along" when the changes could have been taking place right under our noses for some time. a shift in our consciousness will not take place over night. those looking for no changes, will find no changes, those seeking the subtleties of change in all aspects of life will likewise find them. imho.

again thanks for the replies.

i'll be chilling while riding on that "0 timewave"!! :P  8)

They do want more. Everyone who is feeling subjugated and enslaved by a prison planet from which there seems to be no escape is ready for it to end, one way or another.

I agree with you that this so-called 'doomsday culture' probably isn't healthy, but the doomsday culture is a response to an illness, an illness which is really a form of rape, a continual, ongoing, unholy act perpetuated on all humanity by people that are shortsighted and greedy.

:butthead:

People want to be important. They want to be around when the most important event in history took place

"Yeah dude, I was there when it happened"

People love that.

People also like the idea of significant change. They don't like inducing it themselves - they fear moving to new places, but if it is inevitable - i.e. the end of the world!>!?!#E$ then they find it interesting, fascinating, they want to be the one's who survive, to live. .

It's a buncha psychology gone hay-wire thanks to massive amounts of instant communication.
